While Bobby Robson presided over a 3-0 victory in the last Premiership game of the season at Gallowgate, two days later it was the turn of a pair of toon old boys to rant and rave in the St.James' dugouts.

The occasion of the Football Aid match saw one-time Hearts, Plymouth, Carlisle and Plymouth boss (and Fairs Cup hero) Bobby Moncur manage a team of fans against Mick Martin, who briefly co-led Newcastle in a caretaker role in 1988 (we lost 4-0 at Millwall....)

Anyway, these names from the past led out two teams of toon fans who had paid in order to fulfil their dreams of gracing the hallowed turf, just once.

Final score was 4-1 to Mick Martin's boys in the home kit, with goals from
Leslie Napier, Dean Higgins, Peter Lee and Mark Scott. A solitary reply for
Bobby Moncur's side in the away kit came from Chris Dakers.

All in all a hugely enjoyable evening for the players with over £6k raised.
