Saturday's victory over Villa rightly received its fair share of plaudits, with the "new" Shearer and Bellamy combo attracting special attention.

As Shearer edged nearer the magic century of Toon goals, he also drew
alongside "Pop" Robson in United's all-time sharp-shooters hall of fame.

Relative youngster, Bellamy, reached double figures for the season but a
couple of even younger upstarts are also shaping up nicely in the juniors.

Michael Chopra and Richard Offiong have notched up 26 goals between them in the under 19s and both made scoring debuts in the reserves. Chops came on to grab a last minute winner at Bradford last
week on his reserve league debut.

Both will reach the legal drinking age next month but Bobby has already given Chopra the no.28 shirt and a contract. Shola Ameobi rose rapidly from the junior ranks and Chops and Offy could follow, while Jamie Coppinger and Colin McMenamin seem to be being bypassed.
