It was obvious really that the Beeb's Songs of Praise slot on a Sunday night would be filled with what they were billing as the return of the Messiah.
However, some of us have moved on a bit and the great "homecoming" wasn't quite top of our agendas. A warm reception for Keegan was assured but anything more was TV hype and media hyperbole.
All that was visible was the yellow jackets of the press anyway, as the
the story consumed the actual events.
Also inevitably, the good folk who travel up and down the land (and who
make this game what it is) have been ignored as the sofa brigade are catered for in the quarter finals.
The FA shrug and point to the millions ploughed in by the TV companies for the good of the game. Perhaps they should charge less and tell TV kick-off times.
But then we couldn't afford to buy in Marcelino or Bassedas and we'd have to train local lads to play the game...
