Newcastle won 2-0 at Birmingham on Saturday. Did this put a smile back on the team's face?
It's true, we needed that, especially as it was our first away win of the season, but we musn't stop there. West Brom are the visitors on Saturday, we've got to take the 3 points to keep improving our standing.
In two matches, you've gone from 19th to 10th.
Yup, and we've a game in hand at home to Bolton. If we win that we move to within a point of
Man Utd and on level terms with Chelsea. The situation is therefore not as bad as all that. Anyway we've got to make the most of the upcoming weeks because the fixture list looks kind on paper. Most
important though, is tomorrow night's Champions League match against
Juventus. We'll deal with the league at the weekend.
Are you happy with the way you played ?
Totally. Our football is starting to come together and if we keep it
simple we'll be seeing the Newcastle of last year in no time.
Tomorrow, you're playing against "la Juve" in the last match at the chance saloon. If you lose the Champions League is over.
Juventus have been on great form since the season started, true they only got a draw against Parma but they're still a great team. As for us, I'm
convinced that if we continue to make progress we can spring a surprise.
If there's one player to mark tomorrow, its Del Piero.
Yeah, but he's not the only one. At Juventus the danger can come from
anywhere. And thats saying nothing about the defence, which is probably
the strongest point about the team. We're going to have to be pretty efficient in front of goal, we won't be getting 10,000 chances.
What's the plan until tomorrow night ?
Well we arrived in Turin yesterday and we've got a training session at the stadium this afternoon. Tomorrow night after the match we're straight
back to Newcastle on the plane. Speak to you Wednesday for my thoughts on the match.
Salut.
