The Magpies return to Premier League action
on Monday evening against the Hammers, beginning the game in ninth place
following the weekend's other results.
Kick-off at the London Stadium is 8pm
live on Sky Sports and Newcastle's 3,000 tickets are sold out.
At the request of the home side, the away ticket transfer scheme will close at 9am on Monday.
Team: Speaking
to the media on Friday, Eddie Howe confirmed that Alexander Isak was fit and
training, as were both Tino Livramento and Kieran Trippier.
Anthony Gordon begins a three game suspension, while Lewis Hall
and Sven Botman miss out due to injury.
Jamaal Lascelles remains a long-term absentee but has commenced light training
ahead of a planned return before the end of the season.
Botman will undergo surgery on a knee
problem that will reportedly sideline him for around eight weeks.
The Dutch defender returned to action in January after nine months on the
sidelines, but after five appearances failed to feature in any of the
last five games due to a separate knee issue that now requires intervention.
Hall
will miss the rest of the season after a
scan confirmed that he had broke a bone in his foot.
No appeal against the dismissal of Anthony
Gordon versus Brighton & Hove Albion was lodged, meaning that he'll miss the Carabao Cup Final in addition to PL games
versus West Ham and Brentford before being eligible to face Leicester City
on April 7th.
Joelinton has nine PL bookings for the season and will
serve a two match ban in that competition if he receives a tenth yellow card in any of the next
five PL fixtures.
That suspension is for the PL only - a booking on Monday night would not
sideline him from the Carabao Cup Final.
The only other player anywhere near a ban is Dan Burn, who has picked up
seven so far.
Needless to say, a straight red card for any Newcastle player at West Ham
would rule them out of Wembley.
Coral rate this game as follows:
NUFC win 6/5
The draw 13/5
WHUFC win 21/10

WHUFC: Lucas Paqueta is available for selection and Vladimir
Coufal is doubtful. Michail Antonio, Crysencio Summerville and Niclas
Fullkrug are out.
Graham Potter's side are bidding for a third consecutive PL win following a 1-0
victory at Arsenal and 2-0 home success against Leicester City.
An FA Cup exit to Aston Villa meant that they have a 11 day gap between
games before hosting Newcastle.
On home territory this season, the Hammers have lost seven, won five and
drawn two. They have recorded just two clean sheets during those
games.
Referee: Michael
Salisbury - first Toon game of the season for the Lancashire whistler, last
seen taking charge of the 2-2 Premier League home draw with Bournemouth in

Alexander Isak is one strike away from becoming the first Magpie to hit
20 PL goals in successive seasons.
He's netted five times against West Ham for Newcastle in the PL so far, a
total exceeded only by the half dozen he's hit against both Spurs and Nottingham
Forest.
The next three point return for
Newcastle on the road will be their 150th PL away win. 11 of the
first 149 have come at West Ham, with only Spurs (12) proving to be
more fertile ground for the Magpies.

Ex-Mags:
Mitro/Psycho latest
Former Magpie Aleksander
Mitrovic is currently under observation in a Riyadh hospital after
concerns over a rapid heartbreak were raised over the weekend.
Now 30 and playing in Saudi Arabia, the Serbian striker made a scoring
return from a hamstring injury for his current club Al-Hilal on Friday.
News of Mitrovic's hospitalisation follows that of fellow SJP old boy Stuart
Pearce, who was rushed to a facility in Canada last Monday, March 3rd.
The 62 year-old suffered a medical emergency during a flight from Las Vegas
to London Heathrow, the plane diverting to make an emergency landing in
St.Johns.
Pearce remains in hospital but is conscious. No further details of the
medical emergency have been released.
U18s:
Potters punished
Newcastle U18s 4 Stoke City U18s 1
Having put four goals past Wolves last weekend, the U18s repeated the feat
against Stoke City at a sunny Little Benton on Saturday morning to win their
third successive league game.
In-form striker Kacey Wooster made it five goals in just three
league games, confidently dispatching his 25th minute penalty kick after City's Ben Sheaf nudged Kyle
Fitzgerald in the area.
And it was Fitzgerald who got the second two minutes after the
interval with a shot from the edge of the box.
The Potters pulled one back in the 62nd minute when United failed to clear
their lines and Oghi Enabulele fired beyond goalkeeper Will Anderson.
The young Magpies restored their two goal advantage after 75 minutes when Fitzgerald
beat Ben Chivers at his
near post - his third goal in two starts at this level since signing from
Galway United earlier this year.
United got a slightly fortunate fourth five minutes into added time, substitute
Matthew Taylor seeing his shot strike a defender and loop over the
goalkeeper.
Turkish midfielder Baran Yildiz made his debut at this level as a late
substitute, a month after the 18 year-old completed a permanent switch from
Genclerbirligi.
Team: Anderson, Bloomer, Durrant, Johnson, Epia (Craggs 65), Cogdon,
Fitzgerald, Harper, Wooster (Yildiz 86), O'Donovan (Taylor 65), Ferreira (Waddani

Match report
2025/26:
ST price rise confirmed
NUFC have announced 2025/26
season ticket prices and while some other PL clubs have frozen their
charges,
a 5% increase on standard adult prices will apply at SJP - hardly a
shock given current PSR pressures, but a further unwanted drain on resources
for supporters.
Season ticket holders who were on the long-term price freeze deals that have
all now expired will see 2025/26 ticket prices increase to the standard
pricing level.
As an example, adult 1892 Club tickets will increase from £635 (£33.42 per
game) to £1,083 (£57 per game).
There's no increase in junior ticket prices again and the current range of
concessionary prices will continue to be offered - that's in contrast to
several other PL clubs who have axed price categories such as Young Persons.
A new 12 month interest-free direct debit schedule will appear in place of
the previous eight month option.
ST holders currently paying via Direct Debit will be contacted by email to
confirm payment details and auto-renewal will apply.
Other ST holders can renew their seats online via the club website from Mon
10.03.2025 @ 10am until Fri 21.03.2025 @ 5pm.
(Emails sent out to ST holders who pay in a single instalment reference a
payment date of late April).
Find full details online here Domestic
home cup scheme ticket pricing will remain unchanged from the 2024/25 rates
as follows: CC:
£20 & £25 adults / £10 & £15 others
FA: £30 & £35 adults / £15 & £20 others
Details of how to join the cup schemes and the latest dates to do so is yet
to be announced.
In the event that European qualification is achieved, no indication as to
the ticket prices has been given.
There's no mention of what memberships or single PL game prices will be next season for
those purchasing via ballots or member general sale.
PS: There's no mention of any change in current season ticket policy for new
applicants - with none available to purchase and no mention of any queueing
system.
PPS: There's also nothing to suggest that the rumoured relocation of away
sections will actually become a reality, with consequent knock-on effects
for home fans.

PS: Regarding
SJP, the financial report doesn't give any clues as to the club's
intentions, saying only that they "continue to explore
a range of options in relation to potential enhancement or expansion of St
James' Park or the development of a new stadium."
Similarly there's no clarity on whether an enhanced training ground or a
move to a new site is pending.

Almost a
year since his last appearance as a loanee for Sheffield Wednesday,
former Newcastle midfielder Jeff Hendrick has signed for

The 33 year-old Ireland international began his senior professional
career at the Rams, making over 200 appearances between 2009 and

Hendrick's return to Pride Park follows the arrival of John Eustace

England claim top
spot
Newcastle
youngsters Sam Alabi, Michael Mills and George Mair
were
in a 20-strong England U16 squad that won a four
team tournament in Spain this week.
The three Magpies were all in the starting line-up for Friday's
opener against Colombia at the Pinatar Arena, England winning 4-0
but none of our lads netting.
Sunday saw England defeat
Denmark 7-3 at Pinatar, with the Magpies trio all named on the
bench. Mills definitely got some pitch time and scored once.
England then concluded their stay at Pinatar with a 1-2 loss to
France on Wednesday, Mair and Mills named in the starting lineup and
Alabi on the bench.
Despite that defeat, the young Lions claimed top spot in the
friendly competition.

Born Or Died:
1894 James Low born, Kilbirnie, Scotland. (1921-28)
One of eleven children, Jimmy was born on the West coast of
Scotland in Ayrshire but brought up in Elgin over on the East coast, beginning
his career with Elgin City.
A move to Hearts came in 1913, as he combined playing with a place at
Edinburgh University, studying agriculture & science.
But within a year Jimmy joined the rest of his Tynecastle team mates in
enlisting for military service, seeing action with the army in both France and
Belgium and taking part in the Battle of the Somme.
Despite being wounded, Low was able to resume his playing career after World
War I and moved on to Rangers in 1919.
Joining Newcastle during November 1921, he debuted during a scoreless home
draw with Middlesbrough the following month and was a part of the side who
beat Aston Villa in the 1924 FA Cup Final.
However after a dispute at SJP, Low retired from playing in 1928 and
returned to live in Elgin - an FA commission handing out a
meaningless suspension.
He died in 1960.

1962 Death of George Jobey, 76.

United
claimed the Sheriff of London Shield in this forerunner of the Charity Shield,
staged at Fulham's Craven Cottage ground.
Corinthians included 'keeper Tom Rowlandson, who had made one appearance for
Newcastle in the previous season.
The superior fitness of the professionals saw United net three times in five
minutes to secure the shield.
Team: Lawrence, McCracken, Carr,
Gardner, Speedie, McWilliam, Rutherford, Howie, Appleyard, Brown, Gosnell.
Founded in 1898 as a meeting of the leading professional and amateur sides, a
dispute between the FA and the amateur sides saw the competition (also known as
the George Dewar Shield) suspended after this game.
Later brief revivals saw the game played in the 1930s and again during the
1960s, with Watford winning a ceremonial restaging in 1983 - against
Corinthians.

United avenged a 1-3 away defeat earlier in the season after stifling the
threat of Nat Lofthouse - who had hit a brace in the Burnden Park meeting.
The Trotters escaped an even heavier beating when Bobby Mitchell missed a 70th

1957
A Magpie reserve XI were in friendly action against Stirling Albion, winning
5-2 at Annfield.
Newcastle led 2-1 at the break thanks to Bill Curry (15) and Gordon Hughes
(41), with Albion's Grant levelling in the 27th minute.
Curry and George Hannah made it 4-1 before Spence got one back on 68 minutes.

"And here they come, this is what the Newcastle fans wanted...."
In commentator speak, the words of Hugh
Johns aren't far away from being our "some people are on the pitch"
sound bite.
The facts: Future mackem Ian Bowyer put the Second Division visitors ahead
within 82 seconds. David Craig levelled but Forest led at half time thanks to
Liam O'Kane.
Referee Kew then sparked unrest in the crowd when awarding a penalty at the
Gallowgate End on 59 minutes, Pat Howard being sent off for pushing the official
before George Lyall made it 3-1 from the spot.
That was the signal for angry Newcastle fans to burst out of the Leazes and
invade the pitch, causing the game to be halted and the teams to leave the
field.
It's alleged that Martin O'Neill was one of a couple of Forest players who took
sly whacks as they scarpered - although he denied this when asked many
years later.
Offered the chance of an abandonment, Forest players, Directors and manager
Allan Brown were happy to play on and the tie restarted.

What follows is part of Magpies folklore.
1-3 became 2-3 on 78 minutes when McDermott converted a penalty. A crowd who
scented blood roared United on and John Tudor levelled the tie with a fine
diving header with nine minutes remaining.
With fans in an advanced stage of delirium, somehow Bobby Moncur hooked home a
last minute effort to win the game - until Forest protested to the FA and the
Lancaster Gate killjoys annulled the result the following week.
The tie was restaged at the neutral venue of Goodison Park on March 18th but
ended scoreless, with Newcastle winning the replay at the same venue 1-0 on
March 21st thanks to Supermac's goal.
As part of our punishment we were barred from playing FA Cup home games the
following season.
In retrospect, the most remarkable thing about the pitch invasion is that Leazes enders managed to get across the clarty pitch in their sta-press trews
and chelsea boots - speeding up as they reached the other end, before diving
headlong into the Forest fans. The ringleader got a six month stretch.
NUFC.com reader John Duran recalls watching the action unfold from his place in
the West Stand:
"The police were trying to control unrest in the Leazes where there was a bit
of argy-bargy and put a number of people onto the edge of the pitch.
"A fat bloke who looked a bit 'tired and confused' undid his shirt and ran on
the pitch, two young lads saw him and followed waving on the others. This became
popular with those standing on the side of the pitch.
"A quick sprint down the pitch and dives into the Gallowgate seemed to be the
order of the day."
Some years later John Tudor recounted the game as follows:
"We would never have won the game if the fans hadn't run on and the
referee taken us to the dressing-room. We were 3-1 down and 10 men against 11.
But, worse, we couldn't play because Bob Chapman and David Serella had a
stranglehold on midfield.
"Mal and I
hadn't had a kick but that was because there was no service. Terry Hibbitt,
normally our top provider, was having a stinker. The Forest pair closed ground
so quickly there was no space in which to work.
"In the
tunnel there were whoops of delight from the Forest players. They thought they
had won.
"In
comparison, you could hear a pin drop in our dressing-room - until Joe Harvey
burst in and demanded to know what we were going to do about it. We decided to
gamble and push forward. There was nothing to lose.
"Forest let
their concentration slip, they thought the job was already done, and they let us
go a bit in midfield after the restart.
"Hibby struck
a hard, low cross from the left and I dived full-length parallel to the ground
and only a couple of feet off it to bullet a header home for the equaliser.
"Then in the
final minute I crossed the ball, Mal headed it down, and who was there to score
but Bob Moncur of all people. It was 4-3."

1994 Matty Appleby was on target for the reserves but that proved to be a
rare moment of joy for United at The City Ground, Nottingham Forest recording a
6-1 success.
1996 Everton completed the £700,000

The Swiss international was to make only 18
appearances for the Toffees before departing in 1997 for
his one of his former clubs, Lausanne Sports.
1996 United juniors walloped Darlington 9-0, Paul Brayson leading
