(n)
This Sunday sees
the Magpies and the Reds clash at Wembley Stadium in the final
of the Carabao Cup.
It's a 4.30pm kick-off.
If the score is level
after 90 minutes, 30 minutes of additional time will be played. If that
fails to divide the sides,
a penalty shootout will then take place.

A
Public Space Protection Order around Wembley means that consuming
alcohol anywhere except licensed premises is an offence - in
particular on-street drinking (similar regulations cover the
Underground).
Pubs in the immediate area are also unable to show the Final live on TV due to
licensing restrictions.
Club sponsor Sela are providing
scarves for the 32,000 Newcastle fans at Wembley who will find scarves on their seats,
unlike the 2023 Final against Manchester United when alternating
blocks of black and white flags were laid out and the opposition
fans had scarves.
This is the second time that Sela have distributed scarves for away
travellers, doing so ahead of the FA Cup visit to the mackems back
in January 2024.

Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley are out injured while Trent
Alexander-Arnold is a doubt after going off during the midweek
Champions League meeting with PSG.
Manager Arne Slot
returns to the touchline following his two game domestic ban.
Slot's side beat Southampton 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday
to make it six domestic games unbeaten since their FA Cup reverse at
Plymouth.
In the Premier League only, Liverpool have now won 21, drawn seven
and lost once so far this season.
Tuesday saw them lose to PSG in the last 16 stage of the Champions League,
beaten 0-1 at Anfield in the second leg to square the tie.
With no further scoring in 30 minutes of extra time, a penalty
shootout followed that Liverpool lost 1-4.
Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones saw their spot kicks saved while
Alisson failed to stop any of PSG's.
Referee:
John Brooks, the
Leicestershire official is given a third Magpies game of the season,
following the 1-0 PL home win over Arsenal and 2-0 semi-final first leg

Ex-Mags:
Old boys improving
Former Magpie Aleksander
Mitrovic has now left hospital in a Riyadh after
concerns over an irregular heartbeat were raised over the weekend.
Now 30 and playing in Saudi Arabia, the Serbian striker made a scoring
return from a hamstring injury for his current club Al-Hilal on Friday.
He was discharged in time to attend Al-Hilal's game on Tuesday but
wasn't in the squad and watched from the stands.
News of Mitrovic's hospitalisation follows that of fellow SJP old boy Stuart
Pearce, who was rushed to a facility in Canada last Monday, March 3rd.
The 62 year-old suffered a medical emergency during a flight from Las Vegas
to London Heathrow, the plane diverting to make an emergency landing in
St. Johns.
Pearce has since spoken to journalists indicating that he was also suffering
from an irregular heartbeat but was improving and expected to
receive clearance to fly back to the UK in the coming days.
2025/26:
ST price rise confirmed
NUFC have announced 2025/26
season ticket prices and while some other PL clubs have frozen their
charges,
a 5% increase on standard adult prices will apply at SJP - hardly a
shock given current PSR pressures, but a further unwanted drain on resources
for supporters.
Season ticket holders who were on the long-term price freeze deals that have
all now expired will see 2025/26 ticket prices increase to the standard
pricing level.
As an example, adult 1892 Club tickets will increase from £635 (£33.42 per
game) to £1,083 (£57 per game).
There's no increase in junior ticket prices again and the current range of
concessionary prices will continue to be offered - that's in contrast to
several other PL clubs who have axed price categories such as Young Persons.
A new 12 month interest-free direct debit schedule will appear in place of
the previous eight month option.
ST holders currently paying via Direct Debit will be contacted by email to
confirm payment details and auto-renewal will apply.
Other ST holders can renew their seats online via the club website until Fri 21.03.2025 @ 5pm.
Find full details online here
Domestic
home cup scheme ticket pricing will remain unchanged from the 2024/25 rates
as follows: CC:
£20 & £25 adults / £10 & £15 others
FA: £30 & £35 adults / £15 & £20 others
Details of how to join the cup schemes and the latest dates to do so is yet
to be announced.
In the event that European qualification is achieved, no indication as to
the ticket prices has been given.
There's no mention of what memberships or single PL game prices will be next season for
those purchasing via ballots or member general sale.
PS: There's no mention of any change in current season ticket policy for new
applicants - with none available to purchase and no mention of any queuing
system.
PPS: There's nothing to suggest that the rumoured relocation of away
sections will become a reality, with consequent knock-on effects
for home fans.
Update:
Financial
results
NUFC have released their latest financial results, for the year ending June 30th 2024.
The club's revenues have increased from £140.2m in 2021, £180m in 2022 and
£250.3m in 2023 to £320.3m.
Find the results online here
PS: Regarding
SJP, the financial report doesn't give any clues as to the club's
intentions, saying only that they "continue to explore
a range of options in relation to potential enhancement or expansion of St
James' Park or the development of a new stadium."
Similarly there's no clarity on whether an enhanced training ground or a
move to a new site is pending.

teenage striker, Jones worked as a heating engineer and postman whilst playing
for non-league Blue Star and North Shields.
Coaching at Newcastle's Football in the Community
programme, a second chance at a Football League career came when
Doncaster Rovers signed him from Bridlington Town in 1993,
fresh from an FA Vase Final success at Wembley.
Later playing for various clubs including Wigan Athletic and
St. Johnstone, Jones gained his
"A"
Licence in 1999 and coached at
Middlesbrough Academy.
Playing
with Roberto Martinez at Wigan, he became his assistant
at Swansea City in 2007 and later followed him to Wigan,
where they won the FA Cup in 2013.
Following spells with Everton and
the Belgian national team, they parted ways in 2018 when Graeme became assistant boss
at West Bromwich Albion, leaving within a year to become Luton Town
manager.
That proved to be ill-fated though and he left the Hatters in April
2020, reappearing four months later at Bournemouth, who were then
managed by Jason Tindall following the departure of Eddie Howe.
United reportedly paid £250K to release Jones from his contract the
following January, but within a week Tindall had been
sacked and Jonathan Woodgate (who replaced Jones as coach)
hastily installed as interim boss.
Bruce's departure from Gallowgate during
October 2021 saw
Jones
oversee the
first team for three Premier League games - 1-1 draws at Crystal
Palace and brighton book-ending a 0-3 home loss to Chelsea.
Howe then arrived with Tindall, who became joint assistant with Jones.
1982 Stephen Grindlay
born, Alexandria, Scotland. (1999-2001)
Goalkeeper who was brought to Tyneside from Celtic and went on
to appear for the Magpies at junior and reserve level.
Stephen also featured for a strong Magpies XI in a 5-2 friendly victory at
Berwick in August 2000, protected by a back four featuring Laurent Charvet and
Marcelino.
However, he failed to win a professional contract at United and following a
brief period with Grimsby Town, returned to Scotland with Dumbarton in
2001.
After six years at Boghead, the man known to fans as Shay moved on to Queen
of the South, joining Ayr United in 2008.
June 2010 then saw Stephen begin his second spell with Dumbarton,
helping the Sons of the Rock gain promotion from the Scottish Second Division
in 2012.
And in celebration of the goalkeeper racking up a decade of Sons service,
the 2014/15 season saw a series of testimonial events before he left the
club.
Moving into
Scottish Junior football with Beith Juniors, Stephen ended his first season on
a high, saving a penalty to win the Scottish Junior Cup in May 2016.

Howeverfans travelling on the same train weren't so fortunate
and were left stranded north of York - delayed still further when a
railway worker attending to the broken-down locomotive was killed.
The kickoff was delayed by 25 minutes and future Magpies coach Tommy Cavanagh netted twice for the Terriers.
Newcastle clawed their way back and were pressing for a third
goal when Frank Brennan's slip let in Jimmy Glazzard for what proved to be the
winner.
