The Magpies made one change to the line-up that had drawn
1-1 at the Crystal Palace the previous Saturday, Jack Carr
replacing the injured Tony Whitson.
Star striker Albert Shepherd proved to be the difference
between the two sides however and the trophy was presented
to United Captain Colin Veitch by Lord Derby.
