the Amex Stadium live on Sky Sports.

This will be Newcastle's eighth attempt at winning a PL fixture at this

Their sole victory in 10 league and cup matches at the Amex came during the
2016/17 Championship season.
The Seagulls are bidding for a winning treble against Newcastle this season,
following 1-0 PL and 2-1 FA Cup victories on Tyneside.
Team: Lewis
Hall and Jamaal Lascelles remain out while Matt Targett has picked up a
hamstring injury that may prematurely end his season.
The extent of the knee injury
that saw Joelinton miss the 3-0 win over Ipswich Town is yet to be
announced, but it's feared that he may have kicked his last ball of
2024/25,
Jason Tindall will serve a one game touchline suspension at the Amex,
following his third caution of the season during that win against Ipswich.

Teatime for Toon Teens
There's a further change to
this week's rearranged U18 league home fixture with Leeds United,
which is now a 5.30pm kick-off at Whitley Park on
Wednesday.
United's youngsters then conclude their season with a home game
against a Manchester
City side who secured the Northern section Premier League title last
Saturday.
That was scheduled for this coming Saturday, but is now listed by City as a
10.30am start on Saturday May 10th.

Derby delight !
mackem U18s 1 Newcastle
U18s 3
Three goals within 15 second half minutes
were enough to secure victory for Newcastle U18s in Saturday's derby fixture
at the academy of plight.
An unremarkable opening 45 minutes yielded few scoring chances for either
side and no goals - United's best opportunity seeing
captain Henry Johnson unable to keep his header down following a corner
kick.
The second half was a different story, the Magpies going ahead within three
minutes of the restart when the trialist home goalkeeper flapped at Guy
Bloomer's right wing cross and Alex O'Donovan fired home.
1-0 then became 2-0 in the 52nd minute when Matheos Ferreira beat his man on
the left before centering for Joe Brayson to bundle the ball in from close
range.
Brayson then turned provider 10 minutes later, teeing up Kyle Fitzgerald to
cut inside an opponent and place a low shot into the corner of the
mackem net.
The hosts reduced the arrears three minutes later when a long range effort
from Bayley Hester eluded Adam Harrison, but United secured victory without
further incident.
Team: Harrison, Bloomer, Cogdon, Epia (Durrant 74), Johnson, Finneran,
Fitzgerald (Yildiz 85), Harper (Wooster 77), Brayson (M.Taylor 78), O'Donovan, Ferreira.
Subs n/u: Jones, M.Taylor.
Booked: Finneran, Harrison, Johnson.

Playoffs: two from five
Although Burnley and Leeds United have taken
the two automatic promotion places and Sheffield United and the mackems are confirmed in third and fourth
positions, the identity of the other two playoffs sides will remain unclear
until the final round of games this coming Saturday.
Bristol City and Coventry City currently occupy those two
slots, with Millwall, Blackburn Rovers and Boro all
waiting in the wings should there be any slip-ups.
Selected final day fixtures (all 12.30pm):
Bristol City v Preston North End
Burnley v Millwall
Coventry City v Middlesbrough
Sheffield United v Blackburn Rovers
Temps:
Loan lads
Travis Hernes
(AaB):
A 72 minute shift for midfielder Travis on Monday, as AaB's relegation
troubles deepened with a 0-1 home defeat by Vejle in the Danish SuperLiga.
Harrison Ashby
(QPR):
The already-promoted Clarets staked their claim for the Championship title
with a 5-0 success at Loftus Road on Saturday. Having filled in at left back
recently, Harrison featured in right midfield and was cautioned during his
86 minutes on the field.
Isaac Hayden
(Portsmouth):
The midfielder completed 72 minutes of Saturday's 1-1 draw away to
Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship, both goals scored in the first
half.
Alex Murphy
(Bolton Wanderers):
Now unable to reach the League One playoff places, Bolton played out a 1-1
draw at Peterborough United on Saturday. Alex started and was replaced in
second half added time.
Charlie McArthur (Carlisle United):
A 2-3 loss at Cheltenham Town on Saturday condemned the Cumbrians to
relegation from League Two. Charlie wasn't named in the squad, but there was
a rare outing for SJP old boy Paul Dummett from the bench for Carlisle.
Joe White
(MK Dons):
It finished 0-0 against Grimsby Town at Stadium MK in League Two on
Saturday, with Joe introduced as a 76th minute substitute.
Max Thompson
(Chesterfield):
A 4-1 home win over already-relegated Morecambe on Saturday left the
Spireites one point off the League Two playoffs. Max was once again an
unused replacement.
James Huntley
(Spennymoor Town):
Despite a 1-0 home win over Oxford City on Saturday, Moors finished a point
shy of the National League North playoffs. James remains sidelined with a knee
injury.
Miodrag Pivas
(Willem II):
Although playing in a practice match against ADO Den Haag some days earlier,
Pivas was omitted from the squad that lost 0-1 at Fortuna Sittard in the
Eredivisie on Sunday.
Vakhtang Salia
(Dinamo Tblisi):
Tblisi were held 1-1 at home by Dinamo Batumi in the Erovnukli Liga on
Friday, with Salia starting the game and completing 65 minutes - exiting
with his side 0-1 down.

On This Day in History |

Born Or Died:
1907 James Murray Boyd born, Glasgow.
(1925-35)

Outside right Jimmy began his career with Petershill Juniors on
his native Clydeside before signing for Edinburgh St.Bernards.
Signing for the Magpies in 1925, Boyd made his senior debut in a 1-1 draw at
Cardiff City in September 1926 - playing just twice that season as United won
the Championship.
First establishing himself during the 1928/29 campaign, Jimmy's most prolific
season was to be in 1931/32, when he appeared in all nine FA Cup ties the club
played including the Final victory over Arsenal.
Capped once by Scotland (versus Northern Ireland in 1933), he served United as
club captain and signed off in a 4-2 home win over Oldham in December 1934.
Making a £1,000 switch to Derby County in May 1935, he played alongside Hughie
Gallacher for the Rams but was at the Baseball Ground for barely a year before
moving on to sign for Bury.
Later moves took him to Dundee and Grimsby Town, while he appeared for both
Clapton Orient and Brighton in wartime football.
Post-war, Jimmy scouted for both Newcastle and Boro. He passed away in March
1991.

1917 John Douglas Wright born, Rochford, Essex.
(1938-48)

Wing half who joined Southend United after impressing in the
colours of Chelmsford City.
Duggie made a £3,250 move to SJP ahead of the 1938/39 season and debuted in a
2-1 home win over Plymouth Argyle that August.
What proved to be his sole full England cap then arrived three months later, as
Norway were beaten 4-0 at Gallowgate.
Wounded on army service in WW2, Wright returned to the Magpies XI once league
football restarted and featured in the 13-0 win over Newport County in October
1946.
Leaving United
following their return to Division One in 1948, he then enjoyed a successful six year spell
at Lincoln City.
Returning to the North East with Blyth Spartans, Duggie served as player,
manager and secretary at Croft Park and also worked at Blyth Power Station. He
died in 1992.

1932 Death of John Auld, 70.
(1896-97)
1955 Ralph Callachan born, Edinburgh, Scotland.
(1977-78)
A product of the Tynecastle Boys Club, midfielder Ralph made
his Hearts debut in April 1974, just days before turning 19.
February 1977 saw him move to SJP in a £70K transfer - eight months after
finishing up as a loser in the Scottish FA Cup final.
However his stay on Tyneside was brief and he didn't get off to the best of
starts with his new manager Richard Dinnis - who had no prior knowledge of
Callachan's arrival (the deal was done by club Directors).
Debuting in the UEFA Cup away to Dublin side Bohemians, the home leg of that
tie proved to be the only time that Callachan was victorious in a Newcastle
shirt and his final game came in a 0-3 loss at Leicester City that coincided
with his 23rd birthday.
Following United's relegation, Ralph began pre-season in the reserve side and
scored in a kickabout at Berwick Rangers before returning to Edinburgh in late
August 1978.
This time he signed for boyhood favourites Hibernian in a part-exchange deal
that saw defender John Brownlie heading to SJP.
Back at Hampden again in 1979, he once again collected a runners up gong and
completed a full set of Edinburgh league clubs with a move to Meadowbank in
1986.
Ralph then briefly featured for Morton before becoming Berwick Rangers player
boss between 1990 and 1992, still turning out for the Borderers at the age of
36.
After running a pub in Musselburgh near Edinburgh, Ralph later worked as a taxi
driver in the city.
1993 Aaron Spear born, Plymouth.
(2008-11)
Sought-after attacking midfielder signed
from Plymouth Argyle for an undisclosed fee, during the time that Dennis Wise
was in charge of our youth recruitment.
Appearing initially for the U16s, Aaron's first U18 game came in
October 2008, with a second string debut as a substitute against Boro at Whitley Park in February 2009.
Aaron gave a glimpse of his promise when scoring a well-taken goal for the
Reserves against Rotherham in October that year.
However, the following season saw him restricted to youth team duty, during
which he was dismissed against Liverpool.
Media stories that Spear was unsettled in the area appeared before his
release in June 2011, after which he joined IBV in Iceland.
Scoring five goals in his first season, a short trial at Bundesliga
side Stuttgart followed, before signing an extended deal with IBV.
Loaned to lower league Víkingur Reykjavík the following year, Spear
played for Devon-based Elburton Villa in the close season before returning
to Iceland with IBV in 2013.
Heading back to England for a second spell at Elburton, 2014 then found
Aaron linking up with Icelandic side BÍ/Bolungarvik.
Joining Swedish side Gallivare a year later, he also appeared for
Anundsjo, Ostersunds and Kramfors in that country returning to
Iceland during 2019 with Vestri.
Spear remained in Iceland, playing for Kordrengir, KF Vidir and Framherjar.

Walton made it 3-3 late on.

United began their post-season tour of Europe by
participating in a benefit game for long-serving
defender Juan Mencia - who had played his last game in
1954.
The game attracted a large crowd to the Estadio
Metropolitano in Madrid, Mencias opting to donate the
proceeds to a local nursing home.
In a situation mirroring the Goal! movie half a
century later, the game was used to shoot footage for a
film, with the leading actor on the field when
a 12 man Atletico side kicked off the game!
That was Peruvian-born Fernando Fernández Gómez, who
played the part of Claudio Henkel in the film, "El
Fenomeno".
He later explained that:
"The referee whistled. The centre forward of Atlético took
out and the ball happened to me.
"At that moment, when I received it and barely touched it,
the right inside of the Newcastle, like a locomotive,
came at me fiercely.
"I looked at him, scared to death, turned around and ran
towards my goal.
"Immediately, the referee whistled again, I left the
field, and the game really started."
