Newcastle's final away game of the season takes them to North
London and a 4.30pm kick-off on Sunday
at the Emirates Stadium, live on Sky Sports.
Ticket forwarding opens at 4.30pm on Thursday and ends at 11.30am on Sunday.
If you are intending to forward your ticket (limit of two per season) then don't download
it, otherwise it will need to be reissued - which is a pain in the a**e....
United go in search of an unprecedented fourth victory and
clean sheet against Mikel Arteta's side this season, after their 1-0
PL win at SJP followed by the two-legged Carabao Cup success - 2-0
in London and 2-0 on Tyneside.
Their final away game of the season sees them seeking a ninth win on
the road, their best ever PL return and something not achieved since
the 2001/02 season - that total including a memorable 3-1 success at
Highbury.
Team: Lewis
Hall and Matt Targett miss out, with the status of Joelinton, Kieran
Trippier and Joe Willock unclear.
The absence of Sven Botman from training ground footage prompted
claims that he'll miss out with the knee problem that saw him withdrawn against
Chelsea. It's claimed that the Dutch defender has had a scan on it this week.

Match
action (Heaton Stannington)
Match
action (Morpeth
Town)
Wednesday evening saw Heaton
Stannington lift the Northumberland Senior Cup for the very first time in
their history, defeating Morpeth Town in a penalty shootout.
3,841 fans were at Gallowgate to see a scoreless 90 minutes during which
neither side dominated, the tie proceeding straight to penalties at that point.
The first eight spot kicks were converted before both sides saw their fifth
efforts saved. Town then failed with their next, leaving Stan substitute Dan
Groves to fire past former Magpie goalkeeper Dan Langley and into the
Gallowgate net.

Following last week's 3-2
friendly win away to St.Mirren, United's U21 side faced Scottish opposition
once again on Tuesday, this time at Darsley Park.
A close range effort from Sean Neave gave the hosts an interval lead before
the visitors found a late leveller.
20 players were used by Newcastle, with Jamaal Lascelles completing the
opening 45 minutes - his first on-field involvement after missing 13 months
with an ACL injury.
Update:
Crest update
NUFC have announced plans to alter the club crest from the current version,
with an initial consultation exercise in the form of an online survey for ST
holders and members.
The cut-off point for completed
entries is this Friday.
A subsequent survey is promised following a fan workshop that took place at SJP
on Wednesday.
PS: images claimed to represent the club's favoured design appeared on social media - and are almost laughably
bad...

Sweet FA for Dan
Former Newcastle sporting
director Dan Ashworth has been appointed as the FA's head of
elite men's and women's development - returning to the employer he served
between 2012 and 2018 before leaving for Brighton.
Ashworth spent two years at SJP before an approach from Manchester United
saw him placed on gardening leave in February 2024. However he lasted barely
six months at Old Trafford before a parting of the ways - the Red Devils
forking out a combined £4.1m in compensation to Newcastle and then paying
him off.
Meanwhile, ex-Magpie U21 coach Elliott Dickman has left his post as
South Shields manager after the Mariners finished seventeenth in National
League North.

The identity of the third
side joining Burnley and Leeds United in the Premier League next season will
be decided at Wembley Stadium on Saturday week, May 24th.
Facing Sheffield United in the play-off final will be the mackems, after
they completed a 3-2 aggregate win over

Dinamo sit third in the Erovnuli Liga, 11 points shy of the leaders Iberia 1999
and currently in line for a place in next season's Europa Conference League
competition.

2025/26:
Celtic (a) on sale now
Newcastle have confirmed a second pre-season kickabout, at
Scottish Champions Celtic on Saturday July 19th.
That's a 3pm kick-off and the Magpies
have been given 7,200 places.
As was the case for March's Wembley visit,
away travel groups won't be in use and seats are individually
selected from a seating plan. That was visible on a smartphone but
some desktop users report that they struggled to see it.
It's also worth repeating that more than one
section is on sale, but in order to see the others, you need to
click on the arrow to the right of the screen.
NB: some seats in areas 118 and 119 in the
usual away corner have restricted views due to a pillar. These look
to be included in the 1,200 that NUFC will be selling for a slightly
cheaper price after the full price ones sell out.
NUFC state that this game will be excluded
from the usual away ticket transfer scheme.
Prices: £25 adults, over 65s £17, 13-16s
£17, U13s £12.
(There's no relevant scheduled rail work
that weekend).
This will be United's first game in the East
end of Glasgow since a 1-2 loss in August 2004. That was the third
visit of the Premier League era, following a 0-2 reverse in July
1999 and a 1-1 draw on a red-hot day in August 1995.
The most recent meeting of the two sides
took place at SJP during August 2007, ending in a 4-1 win for the
Magpies.
For Eddie Howe it's a belated opportunity to
lead a side out at Parkhead, having rejected the chance to become
Celtic boss during 2021 - supposedly after failing to reach an
agreement on the appointment of his backroom staff.

On This Day in History |

Born Or Died:
1933
Richard Matthewson "Dick"
Keith born, Belfast. (1956-64)

Northern Ireland international full back
who
arrived from Linfield in September 1956 at a
cost of £9,000 as United sought to replace
the injured Bobby Cowell.
Making an immediate debut in a 1-1 home draw
with Manchester United, Dick's full back
partnership with fellow Ulsterman Alf
McMichael served club and country well.
After five seasons playing the top-flight,
United dropped into Division Two and Keith
remained at Gallowgate, serving as club
captain under new manager Joe
Harvey.
What proved to be Dick's final appearance came
in a 2-5 loss at Portsmouth during October
1963, with understudy Bill McKinney
preferred until the emergence of David Craig
from the youth ranks.
Joining Bournemouth at a cost of £3,300 in
February 1964, Keith moved on non-league
Weymouth two years later.
Dick tragically died aged just 33,
fracturing his skull in an accident at a
Bournemouth builder's yard in February 1967.
United then visited Dean Court three months
later to take part in a benefit game to
raise funds for his family.
1989 Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa born, Bangui,
Central African Republic. (2013-15)
Central
defender brought up in the Marseille
area who joined Montpellier's youth Academy
in 2005, debuting for the French
League side two years later.
Yanga-Mbiwa first appeared for France at U21
level in November 2009 against Tunisia and
was included in a provisional senior team
selection ahead of Euro 2012.
Omitted from the final squad, Mapou's full
international debut came in a 0-0 friendly draw with
Uruguay during August 2012, in a back four that also included
fellow future Magpie, Mathieu Debuchy.
Leading Montpellier to the League title in
the 2011/12 season, he was first linked with
a move to SJP in August 2012, completing a claimed
£6.7m switch the following January.
Debuting off the bench in the closing stages of a vital 2-1 win at Aston Villa,
Mapou found himself pressed into service as an emergency central midfielder.
A first start at right back in the scoreless home draw with Metalist Kharkiv,
was then followed by a return to his more usual central defensive role later in
the month, following an injury to Fabricio Coloccini.
The return of Colo to fitness in May 2013 then saw him recalled and Yanga
deputise at left back for Davide Santon and Massadio Haidara at
West Ham.
He made 23 league appearances (six from the bench) plus three cup starts in the
2013/14 season and was sent off in the home game against Liverpool for a clumsy
challenge on Luis Suarez.
Despite amassing the most pitch time in friendly matches ahead of the 2014/15
season (and scoring against Sydney in Dunedin), strong
rumours of a loan departure persisted.
A return to France looked likely, but instead a deadline day deal saw him move
to Serie A side AS Roma on a season-long loan with the contingency of a
permanent deal.
And it didn't take Yanga long to criticise the physicality of the Premier
League and his unhappiness with being played at right back by Alan Pardew -
labelling his move from Montpellier to United "a mistake".
The Roma loan was made permanent in January 2015 after triggering a clause contained in the agreement.
However, Yanga was sold to Lyon that August, where he became a regular
starter in his first two seasons and helped them to a runners-up spot in
2016.
From that point though, things unravelled for him and he drifted out of
the first team before his contract ended in July 2020.
Despite occasional bench duty and no apparent fitness issues, the nearest
Mapou had come to a recall was selection against Arsenal in friendly during
August 2019.
Failing to find another club, he later based himself in Dubai but was last
spotted at French side FC Istres before retiring.

asking, but were hampered by an injury to goalkeeper Jack
Fairbrother that forced him off the field for 20 minutes -
during which time Cork scored past stand-in custodian
Bobby Cowell.
Fellow Magpie Eric Garbutt then took a turn between
the posts before Fairbrother was able to continue.
Cork fielded several guest players including
representatives from West Ham and Everton.

After a succession of away losses at Wrexham, Sheffield
Wednesday, Luton Town and Blackburn Rovers had ended a late promotion
push, United rounded off their season with victory at Selhurst
Park to finish ninth.
Central defensive duo David Barton and Bruce Halliday made
what proved to be their final first team appearances for
the club.

2001 former Magpie Andy Hunt announced his retirement from
football at the age of just 30 suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
He

After a nerve-jangling
finale the season ended positively with this vital away
point.
In blazing sunshine at Anfield, we took the lead and held
on after conceding to claim fifth place in the table and a
UEFA Cup spot.
However, credit is due to Reds boss Gerard Houllier - in his final game -
for seemingly standing his side down in
the dying moments to ensure that the game ended in a draw.
Aston Villa were our nearest rivals for that position, but lost at home to
nine-man Manchester United.

When future Mag Geremi
put through his own goal 12 minutes before the break, United's
scoreless run at SJP was finally ended after 323 minutes.
However, within 90 seconds the visitors were level, Frank
Lampard netting a penalty after former Blue, Celestine Babayaro illegally impeded
Eidur Gudjohnsen.
At full time, Newcastle fans were treated to
the sight of Laurent Robert in his briefs
having thrown the rest of his kit into the crowd. It was
to be the last we saw of the Frenchman before leaving for
Portsmouth.
Half-time hero for this
match was a certain Glenn Roeder - 12 months on he was
confirmed as permanent manager of Newcastle but a year
later he had gone.
NUFC.com match report
2006 Glenn Roeder was made
permanent manager after three successful
months as caretaker, securing 7th in the Premiership.
Freddy Shepherd said of the appointment:
"In the end results are the most
important thing in football and Glenn Roeder certainly did that for us. In
fact managers stand and fall by results and you could say Glenn won the
job.
"Glenn has done the job with dignity and
decorum. He now has a two year contract and both of us are happy at that.
I must say that Glenn Roeder was our captain and a great servant as a
player and he has a great feel for this football club."
2007 Freddy Shepherd got his
man with confirmation that Sam Allardyce would replace Glenn Roeder as Newcastle manager.

"There's a Mike someone on the phone,
saying don't unpack your bags...."

Steven Taylor's added time header gave United a deserved point in
their final away game of the season - and something for the travelling
fans charged £50 to celebrate.
Alan Pardew's makeshift side - with Shane Ferguson and Ryan Taylor in
midfield - twice came from behind in a physical contest while Sammy
Ameobi made his first team debut as a second half substitute.
His arrival alongside elder brother Shola also meant that
the Magpies had siblings playing in the same competitive game for the
first time since the Robledos in 1952.

without kicking a ball in midweek, ten man United produced
a performance and a scoreline that defied belief as they trounced

Three of the goals came after Aleksandar Mitrovic's
dismissal and there should have been more, Andros Townsend hitting
a post and
Moussa Sissoko missed two sitters.
Rafa Benitez was left in absolutely no doubt about how much fans
wanted him to stay on, with his name chanted for the duration of the
match and at the final whistle as he joined the players in the centre
circle.
He later admitted that show of affection
influenced his decision to manage in the Championship for
the very first time.

Newcastle's
hopes of securing a second successive season of European
football receded after a narrow defeat at Old Trafford saw
them drop down into seventh.
Ahead at the break, Anthony Gordon soon levelled and the
Magpies then missed a succession of chances while the
hosts converted both of their opportunities.
Lewis Hall netted in added time as he had done in the
Carabao Cup victory earlier in the season, but his side
were unable to scramble an equaliser in the final
seconds.
