Several readers have contacted us regarding the 2025/26 Newcastle United season ticket terms and conditions and the clause regarding occupancy that is now included.

We're happy to share this for anyone who is unaware:

Update:
Sca Toon?

Whilst working to close the Anthony Elanga deal and continuing dialogue with Burnley over James Trafford, The Times claim that Newcastle have also contacted Serie A side Atalanta over defender Giorgio Scalvini.

The 21 year-old centre half is an international colleague of Sandro Tonali and rated at £30m. Rumours of interest from the Magpies surfaced in the Italian media last month and now appear more concrete, amid claims that United have monitored Scalvini for the last two years.

Update:
Elanga: news awaited

Thursday night brought reports that an increased bid from Newcastle United for Anthony Elanga had been agreed with his current club Nottingham Forest.

Having failed with a £45m offer recently for the 23 year-old Swedish international winger, it's now claimed that a revised figure in the region of £55m has been more successful.

An international colleague of Alexander Isak, Elanga was pictured in the company of William Osula earlier this week, complete with social media comments suggesting that a move to Gallowgate could be in the offing.

2025/26:
Fur coat, no signings

Newcastle United's new third kit was released on Tuesday morning, a promotional video premiering on Monday night but then taken offline within 24 hours.

That was prompted by a Japanese fan in the video displaying a flag deemed to be disrespectful to Korean nationals - a country Newcastle visit later this month....

A re-cut version of the video appeared later on Tuesday.

The 2025/26 third and home kits are available here

Following on from the rail-themed kit launch last season, the new promo includes current senior players and fans, plus SJP old boys Jonas Gutierrez and Tino Asprilla - the latter clad in a fur coat as he was back in 1996.

That bloke from North Shields who just did three nights at SJP appears as well. If NUFC signed him could they not sell his back catalogue to Greggs in a PSR-busting deal?

Giveaway:

The latest addition to the range of Toon-themed bucket hats by Football Bobbles is this Lee model, inspired by United's distinctive 1997/98 change kit and with a nod to next season's third shirt.

These are available to purchase
here now and there's a special offer for NUFC.com readers of a half-price Kelly bucket hat with orders of the Lee bucket only.

To take advantage of that, add a Lee bucket hat to the online shopping basket and use promo code NUFC.com - that will prompt a Kelly hat to add at checkout.

We had a Lee bucket hat up for grabs, asking you to identify the ex-Magpie who was a Wembley scorer for his previous club, an England U21 midfielder, a scoring debutant for Newcastle in 1997 and subsequently loaned to Sheffield United.

It was of course Des Hamilton, which most folks knew - although Tartan pair Paul Dalglish and Stephen Glass both inexplicably cropped up among those suggested.

The winning entry came from Ann Richardson

2025/26:
Familiar foes for U21s

Newcastle U21s will again play in the EFL Trophy this season - taking their place in the 64 club competition for a ninth successive season.

Thursday's Group Stage draw placed the Magpies second string in Northern Section Group F, alongside
Harrogate Town, Huddersfield Town and Mansfield Town.

Newcastle will play each of those sides away from home, having travelled to Harrogate in 2021 and Mansfield in both 2021 and 2024. They've not previously faced Huddersfield in this competition.

Sky Sports will televise all the ties, with round dates tbc.

Games are played over 90 minutes, with a penalty shootout staged if the scores are tied then and the winners of that receiving a bonus point.

The Magpies were successful last season in a shootout against Bradford City, but haven't claimed maximum points in this competition since back in 2018.

NUFC confirm that the U21s will enter the Premier League International Cup for the first time since 2019/20 - pitting them against European sides. Games are all in the UK.

And the Magpies second string will also take part in the National League Cup once again, having participated in last season's maiden staging of the competition.

Draw dates for those two competitions are still tbc.

2025/26:
Espanyol (h) now on sale

Tickets for Newcastle's pre-season friendly fixture at St. James' Park against Espanyol are now on public sale, priced at £25 and £20 for adults.

The Magpies face the Spaniards in a 7.30pm kick-off on Friday August 8th - the night before the sold-out visit of fellow La Liga side Atletico Madrid to Gallowgate.

This will be the fourth successive season that Eddie Howe's side have concluded their pre-season preparations with back to back home kickabouts, splitting the squad across both games and giving pitch time to U21 squad players.

On This Day in History
4th July

Born Or Died:

1932 John Thompson born, Newcastle. (1950-57)

Goalkeeper who came through the juniors and made his debut in a 2-2 draw at Manchester United in October 1954.

Retaining his place for the following two games before first choice custodian Ronnie Simpson returned, John deputised again for a five game run the following season that included the Charity Shield loss to Chelsea.

Swapping United for Lincoln City in a £2,500 deal during 1957, Thompson returned to the North East two years later and appeared for Horden Colliery Welfare and Annfield Plain.

Retiring from playing in 1964, Thompson ran a betting shop on Tyneside before retiring to Beadnell on the Northumberland coast. His death was reported in December 2006.

What Else?

1981 Defender Stuart Boam left United to manage Mansfield Town, one of his former clubs. United received a £20,000 fee.

1999 One ex-Newcastle and England midfielder confirmed the signing of another, as Celtic boss John Barnes hired Terry McDermott. His role? "social manager".

2000 Hired hand and well-known football fans' champion Rogan Taylor held a press conference at the Gateshead Marriott hotel to launch Newcastle's plans for a Fan Forum.

The move came in the wake of the Toongate and Save our Seats episodes, which had further damaged the club's standing amongst supporters and the media.

Unfortunately what became the Fans' Liaison Committee proved to be a damp squib and was ultimately wound up by its frustrated members.

2002 Newcastle announced that defender Gary Caldwell was joining Coventry City on a season-long loan. He went on to make 41 appearances for the Sky Blues.

The Magpies also confirmed that they had released striker James Coppinger, who had made one senior appearance for the club.

2004 What Nicos Dabizas called the "most important moment of his life" came as Greece defeated host nation Portugal 1-0 in the final of Euro 2004.

(We can't help wondering where escaping from his car seconds before it burst into flames ranks in that list of moments...!).

Sadly for the ex-Mag, he watched the game from the subs bench as he had for the rest of Euro 2004 - never being called into action by Greek coach Otto Rehhagel, despite having recovered from the groin injury that saw him lose his place in the run up to the finals.

2005 United returned to pre-season training to the news that Craig Bellamy wouldn't be appearing as was previously expected.

Officially he was given an extra week off, along with those players who took part in post-season senior internationals (Jean-Alain Boumsong, Jermaine Jenas, Shay Given, Stephen Carr and Hugo Viana).

The extra leave also gave Bellamy the chance to make a permanent move away from SJP.

Celtic still had high hopes, but Champions League qualifiers Everton looked to be at the head of the (short) queue for the Welshman. Blackburn Rovers were still nowhere to be seen.

2006 Magpies boss Glenn Roeder brought goalkeeping coach Terry Gennoe back to Gallowgate for a second stint.

The former Bury, Halifax, Southampton and Blackburn 'keeper spent three years at United from 1997 after following Kenny Dalglish from Ewood Park).

During his first stint at SJP Gennoe worked with Shay Given and Steve Harper, as well as old boys Shaka Hislop and Pavel Srnicek.

Following Kenny to Celtic in 1999, he was on the Parkhead staff with Terry McDermott during the ill-starred John Barnes era.

Gennoe remained there to work with Martin O'Neill and then ran his own goalkeeping school at locations in the West of Scotland.

The 53 year-old replaced Academy coach Adam Sadler, who had taken on temporary first team coaching duties during Roeder's time as caretaker manager.

2008 Steven Taylor signed a new three year deal, keeping him at SJP until 2011. Talks had been ongoing for nearly a year.

2013
Newcastle were reported to have ended their interest in Wigan Athletic striker Arouna Kone, reason unknown.

The Ivory Coast player who had scored the winning goal against United at the JJB four months earlier went on to join Everton.

2014 Newcastle duo Mathieu Debuchy and Moussa Sissoko saw their dreams of French World Cup glory end in the Quarter Finals.

Amid a frenzy of speculation concerning his imminent departure from United, Debuchy played in a 0-1 loss to Germany in Rio.

Sissoko looked on from the bench, while ex Magpie Loic Remy also featured for Didier Deschamps' side.

2019 Ten days after confirmation came that manager Rafa Benitez was leaving his post, fellow Spaniard Ayoze Perez confirmed his departure from Gallowgate.

The 25 year-old striker signed a four year agreement with fellow Premier League side Leicester City after the Foxes bid £30m to trigger a contractual release clause.

2024 Following news that a compensation deal had been reached with Manchester United for Sporting Director Dan Ashworth, Newcastle unveiled his successor.

Paul Mitchell arrived on Tyneside a year after leaving his post with Monaco, having held various recruitment roles at MK Dons, Southampton, Spurs and RB Leipzig.
