Away from home so far, they've

Olaoluwa Aina, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Douglas Luiz are unavailable,
while central defender
Murillo is a doubt after he went off injured during the first half

League.
Ange Postecoglu lost both of his PL
visits to SJP while managing Spurs, beaten 4-0 and 2-1.

Sunday service for stiffs
Taking just two points from a possible 15 so far this season in PL2,
Newcastle U21s return to action against Spurs this coming Sunday.
It's a 4pm kick-off at Whitley Park.
The North Londoners have won four out of their opening five PL2 games this
season, including both away ones: a 5-3 success at the mackems and 6-3
victory at Leicester.
Ben Parkinson's goal gave United a 1-0 victory in the only meeting of the
sides last season, at Stevenage FC.

U19s:
Belgians prevail
USG U19s 2 Newcastle U19s 0

Newcastle U19s were left to rue a host of missed chances on
Wednesday, as they suffered their second successive defeat in
this season's UEFA U19 Youth League.
Although their traditional Joseph Marien Stadium
home wasn't chosen to host Champions League ties, the youth meeting
of the sides was staged there, with a mixture of supporters and
officials in the 100 year-old stand.
To the delight of home fans and parents, Union took the lead in just
the sixth minute when Youssef Hamoutahar evaded Scott Bailey on the left,
made his way into the
box and fired beyond goalkeeper George Mair.
After a slow start, United began to dominate and fashion a trio of
presentable opportunities; Sean Neave lobbing Girogi Kavlashvili
only for a defender to intervene, Mo Waddani losing his one on one
with the goalkeeper and Leo Shahar's free kick from a dangerous
position blocked.
SG extended their advantage in the third minute of added
time when Sekou Keita bundled in a corner at the back amid protests
from the visitors - it's unclear whether they were claiming a foul
or handball but Macedonian referee Jovan Kachevski was unmoved -
having earlier booked Sam Alabi for querying the lack of free kick
for a clear foul on him.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with
the young Magpies enjoying the lion's share of possession but still
unable to fashion many clear chances.
The closest they came was when Neave struck the upright in the 71st
minute with the goalkeeper rooted to the spot; substitute Park
Seung-soo busy down the left without providing a killer pass or
cross.
Team: Mair, Shahar, Johnson (Epia
63), Watts, Charlton (Goodbrand
76), Munda, Bailey (Bloomer
65), Finneran, Alabi (Park Seung-soo

Subs n/u: Dowell, Brayson, O'Donovan, Yildiz.
Booked: Alabi, Watts.

Both sides had lost their opening game in this competition; United edged
out 2-3 by Barcelona at Whitley Park and Union beaten 2-6 by PSV
Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

Belfast boy
Out now from Pitch
Publishing is the definitive biography of United icon, Bill
McCracken, penned by renowned Magpies club historian Paul Joannou.

The Belfast-born defender served Newcastle for 15 seasons,
winning three titles and one FA Cup while generating headlines
worldwide for his revolutionary offside tactic.
Bill's life in football then extended for over half a century in
managerial and scouting roles, included that of transfer advisor to
Magpies supremo Stan Seymour in the 1950s.

ST holders have 24
hours to apply, 24 hours to determine success, 48 hours to
buy.
Success is based on the loyalty point total calculated from applications
received. Any applications from ST holders with less points are entered into a
ballot, which will have taken place before tickets go on sale.
The purchase window is divided into two sections determined by a loyalty
point division that alters for each game - those successful applicants above
that point division get a couple of hours head start.
Note that emails from NUFC confirming success may arrive after the purchase
window opens - if you think you qualify because of your points total, just log
on and complete your purchase regardless.
Tickets not bought by successful applicants within 48 hours are offered
to unsuccessful applicants with the next highest loyalty points total. NUFC contact them directly.
Friends and family groups remain, travel groups and away season tickets are
gone.
2025/26 PL away tickets remain at £30.
2025/26 CL away tickets are €50 or less.

Born Or Died:
1888 John Peart
born, South Shields.
(1912-13)

Centre forward Jack began his senior career with Sheffield United in 1907,
before moving on to Stoke.
Arriving at SJP in 1912 at a cost of £600, Peart
debuted in a 0-1 home defeat by Middlesbrough that
March and scored his first goal for the club during a
4-1 win at Notts County the following week.
However, he remained on Tyneside
for barely a year before opting to move on again, this
time to Notts County - his sixth and final strike in a
Newcastle shirt coming against the Magpies just weeks
earlier.
After wartime guest outings for Rochdale and Barnsley,
brief spells with Leeds City and Birmingham during
1919 were then followed by a transfer to Derby County.
Jack's first venture into management came in 1922 with
the Ebbw Vale Steel and Iron Company, although he
would later revert to playing with both Port Vale
& Norwich City.
Referred to as "the most injured man in
football" by contemporary commentators, Peart
hung up his boots in 1924, after a season playing for
Rochdale.
Remained in charge at Spotland until 1930, when
appointed as Bradford City boss, he left to manage Fulham five years later -
staying there until his death in September
1948, shortly before turning 60.

1976 Death of Archie Duncan, 87.

with a open goal.
City promptly scored again but Newcastle hit back to earn

This hammering of
the Gunners remains their largest top-flight away reverse
to date, with Blackburn, West Brom and West Ham all
inflicting defeats by the same scoreline in the first
three decades of the 20th century.
The severity of the defeat has been blamed on Arsenal's
failure to alter their formation to reflect a change in
the offside law that came into effect that season -
manager Herbert Chapman bowing to player pressure after
this loss and altering his tactics
That rethink was to serve Arsenal well, with a 0-3 win at
Highbury in the reverse fixture as the Gunners went on to
finish second in the league - eight places ahead of
United.

What looked like being a hard afternoon in SW6 almost
became a memorable one, United recovering from going 0-2
down to make it three games unbeaten at Stamford Bridge.
Paul Goddard shot home to half the arrears before
future Magpie Steve Clarke's tackle on Mirandinha saw a
penalty kick awarded.
Neil McDonald put his effort straight at Eddie Niedzwiecki
but a point was still salvaged after substitute Kenny
Wharton scored with his first touch - Mirandinha then
coming agonisingly close to stealing the points near to
full time.

A decent display at the CoM Stadium brought no reward, injuries to Hatem Ben Arfa and
Fabricio Coloccini overshadowing all else.
Just four minutes had elapsed on a wet day in East Manchester when Ben Arfa
was left sprawled out on the pitch a few yards outside the City area,
following a disgraceful challenge from Nigel De Jong.
Although referee Martin Atkinson saw nothing wrong and allowed play to
continue, Ben Arfa received treatment before departing for hospital
on a stretcher with a double fracture of his left leg, receiving oxygen on the
field.
Coloccini meanwhile limped out of the fray in the first half, continuing a run
of ill-fortune on this ground that saw Michael Owen and Joey Barton
crocked during previous visits.

through Aleksandar Mitrovic's first goal for the club, United then
spectacularly disintegrated
at the Etihad Stadium.
Only a linesman's flag and the right boot of Joe Hart had prevented
United going 3-0 up but once Sergio Aguero equalised before the
break, it all went awry.
Three Aguero goals in barely four minutes then turned
the game on its head and that became four in seven minutes as Steve McClaren's side capitulated.
Kevin de Bruyne
and Aguero again made it 1-6 and with almost half an hour left, our record
loss (0-9 in 1895) looked under threat. Thankfully City
took pity.
