Tuesday, hosting last season's Portuguese
League runners-up.
It's an 8pm kick-off and the visitors will be backed by

years ago against PSG in Paris.

Newcastle's U18 side travelled to wearyside on Saturday morning
for their first league local derby of the season and were two

Armenian midfielder Finn Geragusian scored twice in four minutes to
put the hosts two up before Marcus Neill's penalty in added time made it
0-3 at the interval.
The young Magpies got one back in the 65th minute through Alfie
Hutchison but there was a further goal for the mackems in the 87th
minute when Ivan Struk... struck.

Sky Sports reported on Friday that Newcastle
goalkeeper Nick Pope had exercised the option in his contract for a
further 12 months, keeping him at Gallowgate until 2027.
The 33 year-old has made 104 league and cup appearances since arriving from
Burnley ahead of the 2022/23 season, keeping five clean sheets in the
opening seven games of the current Premier League campaign.

TV times - derby day
Earlier: Wednesday saw the Premier League announce some changes
to the December fixture list, with three Newcastle games rescheduled
for TV as follows:
Tue 02.12.2025 Spurs (h) 8.15pm Sky
Sat 06.12.2025 Burnley (h) 3pm (no live TV)
Sun 14.12.2025 mackems (a) 2pm Sky
Sat 20.12.2025 Chelsea (h) 12.30pm TNT
Although fixtures up to the end of January were due on Wednesday,
only those up to Mon 22.12.2025 appeared. There's no word on when
the remainder will be released, leaving seven Newcastle games still
subject to change:
Sat 27.12.2025 tbc Manchester United (a)
Tue 30.12.2025 tbc Burnley (a)
Sat 03.01.2026 tbc Crystal Palace (h)
Wed 07.01.2026 tbc Leeds United (h)
Sat 17.01.2026 tbc Wolves (a)
Sat 24.01.2026 tbc Aston Villa (h)*
Sat 31.01.2026 tbc Liverpool (a)
The initial fixture release in June didn't list any games on
either December 26th or January 1st, but the PL's only "blackout"
days are December 24th and 25th.
On that basis, some PL fixtures are liable to be played on both
Boxing Day and New Years Day.
* Aston Villa's visit to SJP will move from Sat 24.01.2026 due to
their Europa League tie on Thu 22.01.2026.

Match report
PS: The Magpies are still in with a chance of finishing second in
their group and qualifying for the knockout stage of the EFL Trophy.
However, Huddersfield Town and Mansfield Town meet in their final
game on November 4th - a week before the Harrogate versus Newcastle
fixture. Depending on the outcome of that, our game could be
meaningless.
Internationals:
Wissa complication
Following the final round of World Cup qualifiers involving
African nations, the four sides contesting the play-off
tournament are now confirmed - including DR
Congo.
Assuming he's fit by then, Newcastle's Yoane Wissa would be in
contention for selection when The Leopards travel to Morocco during
the November international break.
Semi-finals are set for November 13th when DR Congo play Cameroon,
with the winners of that facing either Gabon or Nigeria three days
later.
The winner of that then qualify for a further inter-confederation
qualification tournament involving six teams in USA/Mexico during
next March's international break.
NB: this is all over and above DR Congo's participation in the
African Cup of Nations Final tournament, staged between December
21st and January 18th in Morocco.
Theoretically, players can be called up 14 days in advance, but it's
anticipated this will be delayed until after Premier League fixtures
on and around December 13th.
Whether that could be stretched further to include the Carabao Cup
ties the following midweek remains to seen.

Following the success of matching bucket

products on offer from Tyneside's own Football Bobbles.
Inspired by United's distinctive 1997/98 season change kit
and echoing the current change ensemble, these are available online

(Anyone purchasing Lee scarves qualifies for reduced prices on Ferdinand scarves and Tino bobble hats - see link

We had a Lee scarf to give away and asked what was distinctive about Rob
Lee's UEFA Cup hat-trick at Royal Antwerp back in 1994.
Most folks knew that all three goals were headers and the winning
entry came from Paul Johnson (the Bristol one).

Out now from Pitch

McCracken, penned by renowned Magpies club historian Paul Joannou.

The Belfast-born defender served Newcastle for 15 seasons,

worldwide for his revolutionary offside tactic.
Bill's life in football then extended for over half a century in
managerial and scouting roles, included that of transfer advisor to
Magpies supremo Stan Seymour in the 1950s.

ST holders have 24
hours to apply, 24 hours to determine success, 48 hours to
buy.
Success is based on the loyalty point total calculated from applications
received. Any applications from ST holders with less points are entered into a
ballot, which will have taken place before tickets go on sale.
The purchase window is divided into two sections determined by a loyalty
point division that alters for each game - those successful applicants above
that point division get a couple of hours head start.
Note that emails from NUFC confirming success may arrive after the purchase
window opens - if you think you qualify because of your points total, just log
on and complete your purchase regardless.
Tickets not bought by successful applicants within 48 hours are offered
to unsuccessful applicants with the next highest loyalty points total. NUFC contact them directly.
Friends and family groups remain, travel groups and away season tickets are
gone.
2025/26 PL away tickets remain at £30.
2025/26 CL away tickets are €50 or less.

Born Or Died:
1895 James Clark
born, Bensham.
(1921-24)

Inside left who began his career with
Annfield Plain and Jarrrow, joining United in December
1921 at a cost of £350.
Debuting in a 0-0 home
draw with Chelsea in January 1923, Jimmy failed to
become a regular starter and moved on Leeds United
during May 1924 for a fee of £300.
However he only lasted a season at Elland Road before
another transfer, this time to Swindon Town. Later
moves took him on to Greenock Morton, Ashington and
Dublin based side, Shelbourne.
A steelworker after his playing retirement, Clark was
living in Gateshead at the time of his death in
September 1947.

1961 Ian Rush born, St. Asaph, Wales.
(1997-98)
 There's
so much that can be written about one of the master
goalscorers of the modern era - unfortunately hardly any of it concerns Ian
Rush's time in a Newcastle shirt.
In a 16-year spell at Liverpool (interrupted by a year
in Italy with Juventus), the Welsh international
striker made 660 appearances and scored a stupendous
346 goals.
Since his appearance at SJP in an FA Cup tie for
Chester City way back in January 1980 (scoring once in
a 2-0 away win), Rush had plagued us, netting nine times against us between 1984 and
1995 for Liverpool.
By January 1997 though, he was part of a Leeds
United side walloped 3-0 on Tyneside, seemingly going
through the motions and looking old, slow and
finished.
Fast forward eight months and the 36 year old was a
Newcastle player, another one of Kenny Dalglish's
"Dads Army" free transfers, along with John
Barnes and Stuart Pearce.
With Alan Shearer injured and Les Ferdinand sold,
Rush was pressed into service for a home debut against
Aston Villa - turning out for Newcastle's reserves
just over a week later and netting twice against
Doncaster.
Rush continued to appear for the first team to little
good effect, watching our famous 3-2 win over
Barcelona as an unused sub.
His first senior goal for the club came in a 2-0
League Cup home win over Hull City, while his
appearance from the bench in the FA Cup
at Everton was also worthy of note.
In what seemed almost to be a pre-destined act, the
striker who tormented the Toffees at Goodison as a Red took just 15 minutes to force the ball over the
line for the only goal.
Just two more games followed before Rush's first team
career at United ended, with a brief loan period at
Sheffield United seeing him idle through a quartet of
Championship matches without scoring.
Joining Wrexham the following season, Rush failed to
score in 18 outings for them, later ending his playing
career with Australian side Sydney Olympic.
Rush was named Chester City manager in August 2004 but had departed by the end
of that season and failed with an application to
become the new boss of Peterborough.
An ongoing Anfield association saw Rush involved with
Liverpool both in coaching and ambassadorial roles,
while he also served as a director of
Welsh non-leaguers TNS.
Linked with the Wales
national manager vacancy following the departure of John Toshack in 2010, Ian's
former Newcastle colleague, Gary Speed was appointed.
That left Rush to continue as a TV
pundit and PR man for Liverpool, with an involvement in their soccer schools and overseas promotional
ventures.
1993 Louis Storey born,
Newcastle.
(2010-12)
 Central
defender who also played as a striker and goalkeeper
during his time at Wallsend Boys Club, concentrating on defence when joining the
Newcastle Academy early in 2010.
Debuting for the U18s in a 2-1 home win over Derby
County that October, Storey's reserve bow came during a 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers in
December 2011.
Appearing for the reserves in a 3-3 draw against the
mackems at SJP later that season, Storey's sole second
string start came in a 0-5 away defeat by Fulham.
Released by United
in summer 2012, he later served Ashington, Team Northumbria, South Shields and Hebburn
Town.
Joining Gateshead in 2021, Louis combined playing with coaching - assisting
interim boss Rob Elliot in 2023 following the departure of manager Mike
Williamson.
Becoming Elliot's second-in-command on a permanent
basis during June 2024, Storey then followed his boss
to League One Crawley Town some four months
later.
Elliot's departure in March 2025 saw Storey briefly
installed as interim head coach but left when Scott
Lindsey returned tom the Red Devils.
He was charged by the FA for an "aggravated breach"
of FA rules with abusing a supporting making a reference
to disability in May 2025.
Louis joined Dorking Wanderers as a player for the 2025/26
season.
1998 Craig Spooner born,
Ashington.
(2015-18)

Midfielder who joined United's
Academy on a scholarship during 2015, along with fellow
Cramlington Juniors colleagues Nathan Harker and Dan
Lowther.
Craig's first taste of U18 football came as a
substitute in a 1-5 loss at Everton during February 2015 and
just over a year later he was blooded at U21 level - during
a 1-4 defeat by West Ham at SJP.
Despite earning a contract extension in 2017, he failed to become a reserve regular and was released in June 2018.
Later with North Shields, Blyth Spartans,
Whitley Bay and West Auckland Town, "Spoons" returned to North Shields before joining
hometown club Ashington in 2021.
1999 Rosaire Longelo born,
Kinshasa, DR Congo. (2018-22)

Released
by West Ham towards the end of the 2017/18 season,
salvation came for winger Rosaire when appearing on
trial against Newcastle U23s for Boro
(Norwich City also ran the rule over him).
Catching the eye of Magpies coach Ben Dawson, Longelo
was invited to train on Tyneside, impressing in pre-season at Barrow in July
2018.
A permanent contract was agreed and the player made a
competitive debut in the PL2 opener at West Bromwich Albion.
A memorable first Newcastle goal then arrived in January
2019, Rosaire coming off the bench to net
an added time winner in the wear-Tyne U23 derby.
He remained a regular irregular however, injuries
restricting his second string starts.
Longelo made a permanent exit from SJP in January 2022,
joining League One side Accrington Stanley for an
undisclosed fee.
Featuring more regularly as a full back, Rosaire
rejected a contract offer from Accy at the end of the
2023/24 season and joined League Two Swindon Town.
He then moved to League Two side Salford City in January
2025.
2009 Alfie Seldon born,
Sunderland.
(2025-present)
Left winger who broke into
Newcastle's U18 side early in the 2025/26 season,
netting his first goal at that level in a 4-3 victory at
Liverpool when aged just 15.

would relocate from Darsley Park to the adjacent Little
Benton home of the club's Academy.
This followed further injury concerns for first team players on training
pitches at Darsley Park - which were to be urgently modified.
Graeme Souness said:
"To say I am suicidal
about the current state of affairs is not far off the mark. It is very difficult
to take because it is happening all the time. There never seems
to be any let up."
2006 In
farcical
conditions at Little Benton, Kevin Ball's mackem U18s recorded a deserved 2-0 Tyne-wear
derby victory to maintain their position as league leaders.
Heavy pre-match rain saw the game played on a sodden pitch, a further downpour
in the first half making it even
more of a lottery.

United came close to a famous result in the face of
some rough justice, after once again falling victim to
bungling whistler, Rob Styles.
When the rotten ref awarded a 12th minute penalty and sent off Habib Beye it felt like our world was set to implode once
more.
The display that followed however was gutsy and heart-warming on a cold and
wet night at SJP, with only a late leveller from future Magpie flop Stephen
Ireland seeing reality intervene.

Exactly 13 years after trouncing Manchester United 5-0 at St. James'
Park, Newcastle limped to an awful defeat in front of 9,000 in a field in
Lincolnshire with three borrowed bodies.
The final whistle at Glanford Park saw Toon fans fighting amongst themselves
as Chris Hughton's manager of the month crown well and truly fell off and our winless October streak continued.
Thankfully normal service was soon restored and with
Geremi banished never to be seen again, the team returned
to top spot the following weekend and would remain there
until the season's end.

Goals from Ryan Taylor, Haris Vuckic and Dan
Barlaser secured a 3-1 win for the reserve side over basement side Brighton.
An eventful game saw the Seagulls end up with nine men behind closed doors at Darsley Park, after a switch from
the original public venue of Whitley Park next door.

United's season took
another turn for the worse, dropping to the bottom of the table after a fifth
successive home reverse.
A typically ragged goal did the damage; Albion
incorrectly awarded a corner that was headed across the box and hit goalwards by Jose Izquierdo, deflecting off Paul Dummett and Beram Kayal
before entering the net.

2021 Steve Bruce was relieved of his duties by Newcastle United, with the other Steves - Agnew and Clemence
- also exiting. Graeme Jones became interim boss as the search for a
permanent replacement began.
United sat one place off the foot of the table and were winless, with just three
points from their first eight games.
It all seems like a lifetime ago, thankfully.
2022
Stockport County confirmed that they had released
goalkeeping coach Shwan Jalal following an approach from
an un-named Premier League club.
That club turned out to be Newcastle United, the 39
year-old Iraqi reuniting with former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe.
