The final Pontins League game of the season for the reserves, who finished second behind Champions Hartlepool. And we understand that Newcastle have opted not to continue this experiment next season, continuing only with the Premier Reserve side.

13 mins O'Brien's inswinging corner was forced home from close range by Ramage after the Minstermen failed to clear 1-0

29 mins York's first attack saw Ashcroft find the onrushing Bailey who beat our defence then lobbed Smith from 15 yards 1-1

34 mins United back in front again with O'Brien again tormenting the visitors down the left before centring for Brennan to nod home from within the six yard box 2-1

42 mins Robbie Haw's flicked back header on the edge of the box was met with a vicious half-volley from Ashcroft that flew into the toon goal via the underside of the crossbar - 2 shots from York and two goals 2-2

Lewis Guy replaced Richard Offiong at the break and Guy Bates subbed the sub - Shanks in the 58th minute.

Finnigan, Bates and Ramage all came close to winning it for Newcastle in the second half but defenders, the goalkeeper and the crossbar all denied us.
