NUFC.com on the Telly !

First appeared onITV teletext, Weds 18.10.00

NUFC.com has tried to ignore the Bobby-for-England whispering campaign, however enough is enough. While others look at his credentials or suitability it seems more appropriate to simply ask why on earth he'd want the job.

Unfinished business? Perhaps, but how likely is it he could manage England to World Cup glory? Not very. And anything else would be deemed failure after Italia '90. What about the dreaded mentor role for a young suitor? Has this ever worked in football?

Surely he has more to gain by building with Newcastle. Only Sir Alf enjoyed turning the tables on the English press (although it wasn't for long).

Bobby promised he was in his final job when he waved his hanky at us last year and any misplaced patriotism shouldn't deflect him from that commitment.

Of course, it should be said that Robson did actually start all this with his chivalrous murmurings once King Kev had waved his white flag.
