The capitulation of Spurs on Saturday put our 4-3 defeat of the Champions into an even better light but the loss to Liverpool raised more doubts again.
Owen and Gerrard were absent but the Reds still looked a class above our lot with Solano and Robert comfortably shackled and Bellamy without support.
Once our wing play was neutralised there seemed no alternative game plan but would the return of Cort and Dyer provide an answer to all our problems?
It would be interesting to see who Bobby might "rest". Shearer was subbed
three minutes from time against Leicester to keep him fresh for Sunday,
which is not exactly squad rotation.
Bobby "fired all his bullets" at Liverpool but LuaLua was still on the
bench with just two subs on. Last year Glass and Cordone were often thrown on before being thrown out in the summer.
Didi Hamann was also an interesting absentee from the game but at least he could pass the time counting medals...
