Those of you unwilling but able to recall the bleak late 1970's and early 1980's will appreciate why some of us still wince when we hear our games are to be televised.
In the days when this meant a visit from the big green Match of the Day
vans it also meant inevitable Toon hammerings. For example:
Almost 21 years ago we went to Stamford Bridge for a telly game, donned our white shorts and took a 6-0 beating.
The younger generation of Newcastle fan is now beginning to experience that very same feeling.
It's over a year since SKY or the PPV cameras witnessed a United victory - the 3-1 win at Boro - and this season we've won all our non-televised games. So, it's not just the London jinx at work undermining Bobby's best efforts.
Typically, our next two TV games are against Cockney clubs. The first is at Highbury. The second? Old Trafford....
