The pessimists amongst us thought that Shearer and Bobby had tempted the great God of career-finishing injuries by claiming it was only a matter of time  before Alan got his 100th United goal.

We needn't have worried as Bobby's old club, Ipswich, bent over backwards to enable our captain to reach his milestone with two quick goals as we ploughed through the Tractor Boys.

It's difficult to come up with unique stats about his goals but here goes...

A fifth of them were penalties, 23 from his balding pate and 57 more were from his boots outside the box - four of those free-kicks.

Alan definitely prefers playing at home with sixty-nine of the century scored  at St. James' Park. However, he's not choosy about which end he scores in.

His first and hundreth were put in at the Leazes End of the ground but he's bulged the Gallowgate net just one time fewer. His best? You tell us...
