An unconvincing display from a strong Reserve line-up and more composure from the home side should have seen Tommy Craig's side slip to their fourth straight defeat.

United took the lead after 39 minutes when Joe Kendrick scored with a firm header from an Andy Griffin cross. Griffin had played a neat one-two with Bassedas to get in position for the ball in.

Jermaine Easter equalised for the 'pool two minutes before half time as he headed past Karelse from ten yards following a corner which was nodded back into the area.

In the later stages it was 'pool who made all the running with United looking devoid of any ideas or imagination.

Kendrick and Zola ran out of steam, Cort never seemed to have any (he may want to review his pre-match preparations on Sunday night) and Acuņa and Bassedas gave the forwards little to work with. Bramble was involved in one or two memorable challenges - some good, some not so good.

With Tommy Craig's second string side having had a very youthful look so far this pre-season (Beardo excepted), reinforcements were been drafted in for this evening's trip to Hartlepool.

Having being introduced at half time in the final game of the Dutch tour, Bramble and Cort continued their rehabilitation from injury, while eight fellow colleagues from the Netherlands trip also featured.
