We Said

Tommy Craig commented:

"It was good to see Kieron Dyer get a good 70 minutes under his belt, he put a real shift in.

"I took him off as a precaution. He was fine and had enjoyed the game - in fact he was reluctant to come off - but I felt it was better that he come off rather than get slowly fatigued."

"I was delighted with the win. It was a hard-earned win against a very direct Bolton team. Everyone put a real shift in."

A goal four minutes from time by defender Steven Taylor gave Tommy Craig's side victory at Leyland against their Bolton counterparts on Monday evening.

After a scoreless opening period, the Magpies broke the deadlock on 53 minutes when Kieron Dyer set up Martin Brittain whose shot beat the 'keeper via deflection off Bolton's French youth international midfielder Reda Kribib.

After an energetic display, a tiring Dyer was substituted on 72 minutes, with the home side levelling seven minutes later through London-born striker Ricky Shakes, who cut out Steven Taylor's attempted back pass to Caig.

But with the game looking destined for a draw, Taylor atoned for his error, popping up to put the visitors ahead again with four minutes remaining, a lead we held onto.
