Tommy Craig muttered:

"Football is a cruel game - I've been in football long enough to know that.

"We were disappointing against Manchester United - we were second best in every department and, while they had a good side out, we made them look better than they actually were.

"But tonight I felt we showed signs of recovery - particularly in the first half.

"We created a few chances, we hit the post and the bar and restricted City to only a couple of forays in the first half. However our chances did not got in for us and theirs did.

"That was the story of the game and if I'm honest, we cannot buy a goal at the moment. That is a major, major problem for us.

"We have a young side and the only way out of a bad run is to work hard and keep doing the things you are good at and hopefully it will turn for you.

"However, I do not want the lads to start feeling sorry for themselves because that is when the real trouble starts. I do not want them to lose that self-belief and the confidence it will happen for them.

"We are struggling to score goals and when that is the case it puts pressure on the defence. We are working hard and creating the chances and, once we start putting them away, then the confidence will come back. I am sure of that."

Shaun's younger brother scored twice last season and slotted in City's third in the 78th minute after Tommy Craig's side had a second half collapse.

It was goalless at half-time with Guy Bates coming closest to breaking the deadlock, rattling the bar in the 21st minute.

City went in front in the 57th minute when United defender Peter Ramage sliced a free-kick from the visitors into his own net.
