Newcastle's reserves drew their fifth game out of the last six as they were held 1-1 at Morecambe's Christie Park on Thursday evening

And that stalemate cost them their 100% record at Blackburn's borrowed coastal venue.

Last season's 6-3 success for Newcastle there followed 4-0 and 1-0 victories in the previous three years, but this time Rovers were able to secure a point after United had taken an early lead.

Charles N'Zogbia shot the visitors into the lead with his first Newcastle goal after 19 minutes but Jerome Watt's 27th minute strike brought the home side back level.

And that was the way it stayed after a, frankly, poor game that neither side did enough to win.

Various league clubs were represented in the stands looking over the two teams for possible loans or free transfers. This included Burnley's Steve Cotterill and various others from Rotherham, Doncaster and Blackpool.
