We Said

Tommy Craig said:

"I thought we were slow to get started, but we eventually got into the game

"Liverpool have played the same style for the last 30 years, it's pass and move, pass and move all the time.

"But we eventually got to grips with it and scoring the goal through Liam right on the stroke of half time made my team talk a little bit easier. We were level despite not playing as well as we could, but we stepped up a gear in the second half.

"Once again I fielded a young side, but they showed great heart and commitment to come from behind on two occasions to take a point.

"A draw was probably a fair result on the overall balance of play and I was delighted with the performance.

"Kris
(Gate) doesn't get many goals, and it was unlike him to hit one like that!

"I was pleased to see it go in though, because the longer the game went on the more I felt it was going to be one of those nights for us.

"Caigy made two great saves in the first half, and then pulled off another save at the end once we'd got back to 2-2 to keep us in it.

"All in all the players all over the pitch did a great job. They've all made a contribution for me and it keeps the nice little run at the start of the season going for us.

Waffle

A spectacular late strike from Kris Gate kept up the Reserves' unbeaten start to the season at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham.

Florent Sinama-Pongolle had given the home side the lead after 15 minutes only for Liam Atkin to get us back on terms just before the break.

Former Manchester United youngster Ramon Calliste restored Liverpool's lead on 65 minutes before Gate - who had already struck a post - crashed in an 81st minute equaliser to secure a point.

Hugo Viana travelled but did not make it off the United bench, 24 hours before going to Valencia on loan.
