Coach Peter Beardsley told the official website:

"I thought they fared very well, but I think unfortunately when Jeff Henderson got an injury that we thought might be serious, it disrupted the game. Their boy got sent off but I don't think there was any malice in the tackle.

"It was one of those situations; the referee had to send him off but I don't think the boy intentionally tried to hurt Jeff. They were just two committed players, but I think it disrupted the game."

"After they
(Wolves) scored, I think the players believed in themselves a bit more and for the next 45 minutes were probably the better team, but Jeff's injury took the gloss off it."

The Magpies second string began their league campaign by taking a point from a more experienced Wolves side at their adopted home of AFC Telford - although the black and whites were unable to take advantage of a second half numerical advantage.

Trailing to an early effort from teenage striker James Spray (who netted in the same fixture last season), United levelled midway through the first period when Sammy Ameobi, converted a long-range effort.

Wolves found themselves a man short on 67 minutes, after substitute Ethan Ebanks-Landell was red-carded for a savage challenge on Jeff Henderson.

The United centre half was stretchered off and replaced by Remie Streete but his team mates were unable to find a winning goal and emulate their success at the same venue back in September 2010.

Henderson hobbled out of the ground on crutches and underwent a scan on Wednesday to determine the severity of a hip injury - thankfully it wasn't as bad as had first been thought.

There was some better news for fellow central defender Stephen Folan though, who completed 90 minutes of his latest comeback from injury.
