United's third warm-up match in eight days saw them defeat Championship side Hull City at Gallowgate on Saturday, following a training ground victory over Boro and a 1-1 draw between two Magpie XIs here a week ago.

Florian Lejeune and Allan Saint-Maximin were on target in the first half against Grant McCann's Tigers - both players netting on home territory for the first time.

There was a first outing for Andy Carroll since the FA Cup replay against Rochdale in January, but no sign of Ciaran Clark, Dwight Gayle or either of the Longstaffs.

Also not in action on Saturday were Christian Atsu or Jamaal Lascelles - the latter absent after becoming a father again.

Following the decision not to allow any alterations to Premier League squads for the remainder of the season, fit-again Paul Dummett didn't feature.
