Laurent Robert Interview 47

Taken from his own official (French Language) website 11.03.02

With the 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter final, you must now go back to Highbury to face them in a replay. We can't say that Newcastle got the result they wanted.

It's true, but for the moment, it's all to play for. I reckon that they haven't forgotten that we beat them there already this season, and they know full well that we can do that again. What's more is that its a cup game, and anything can happen. One thing is certain, we are going to do everything we can to get through to the semi's.

When you look back over the 90 minutes, you can still have some regrets over missed chances.

Yes certainly. We had a hard time getting the result and I hope that Bellamy's return will help us. One positive point is that we had a better game going forward than in recent games. Some of the players aren't regular first teamers, and they had to find their feet pretty quickly, which is not always easy, but on Saturday they proved that we can count on them to come in like that.

When is Bellamy's return expected?

I don't know yet, but he should be there for the Arsenal return game.

You equalised with a right footed shot, and you worried Wright on a couple of occasions, are you satisfied with your performance?

I felt really good. Both in attack as well as defence and put in a lot of work. I'm really enjoying my game now and I hope that it will continue like that.

What did you think of the team performance?

We played much better than we have been recently. We took two heavy defeats against Arsenal and Liverpool in the space of a week and I can tell you that it was very difficult for us to take. The boss wanted us to come out showing another side to ourselves for the cup game and I think we did that. He was very happy with the performance, and now we know what we need to do to get into that semi final.

What are you up to today?

It's 11am and I'm in training. I'm on my way to get some treatment because I took a knock on my knee in the first half of the game yesterday, and it's a bit swollen, I need to get it sorted as quickly as possible. Bye.
