United U21s returned from Shropshire empty-handed on Saturday afternoon, losing their opening league game of the season despite taking an early lead at the home of AFC Telford United.

It took just three minutes for Peter Beardsley's side to grab the opener through Haris Vuckic, only for a Wolves side coached by old boy Scott Sellars to level through Jordan Graham's angled shot after 16 minutes.

Bradley Reid then put Wolves ahead following a corner before the break and added his second of the game and Wolves' third in the 72nd minute to seal the victory.

Newcastle handed a debut to 19 year-old striker Ivan Toney after his move from Northampton Town. but injury sidelined both defender Kevin Mbabu and centre forward Tom Heardman.
