United's U23s salvaged a point from their penultimate Premier League 2
fixture of the season, thanks to an 88th minute equaliser from
Tom Allan.
Villa led for over an hour at Bodymoor Heath through midfield trialist Zak Brown from
West Bromwich Albion, before Allan
popped up with his fourth goal of the campaign, converting a chance from
Christian Atsu.
There was a return for Peruvian midfielder Rodrigo Vilca after a prolonged
absence through injury, appearing from the bench in the 69th minute.
The two sides meet again on Friday in the season-closer at Whitley Park,
with twelfth-placed Newcastle
still able to finish anywhere between ninth and thirteen in the table.
There's no relegation in this league.
