Freddy Shepherd Interview

First appeared on Century Radio Thurs 25.01.01

United chairman Freddy Shepherd appeared on North-East radio station Century on Thursday 25th January 2001, in a pre-recorded one-on-one interview with Bobby Moncur (and yes he did mention the Fairs Cup).

From the content, it looks to have been recorded between the Villa cup defeat and the Leeds victory.

Part one of the Shepherd Interview
Part two of the Shepherd Interview

For the sake of accuracy, can we just state that contrary to what Shepherd says:

1. We didn't go to Wembley five times in five years - it was only four.
2. We weren't 3-0 up against Barca at half time, it was only 2-0.
3. We don't have player called Ancuna.
4. We didn't qualify for Europe in each of the last 6 seasons - only in 4 of them.

Pedantic we may be, but someone else will have noticed and equally others won't have and will take everything at face value.

You are quite capable of digesting the contents of the interview without our own half-baked opinions to hinder you. Just ask yourself one question though - what would you have asked Freddy if you'd had the chance ?
