NUST ticket update
From Newcastle United Supporters
Trust, Monday:
We have been in communication with the club regarding the
blocking of NUFC member accounts trying to purchase tickets in the
Nottingham Forest resale on Monday.
The club have confirmed they are
trying to make a concerted effort to prevent tickets from reaching
third party sites. To ensure genuine fans are accessing tickets they
have rules in place that flag up and identify suspicious online
behaviour.
Flagged accounts have ticket
purchase permissions restricted.
To avoid being flagged as a
suspicious account in the future fans should:
Log in once, with one supporter
number on one device only
Don’t use the same supporter
number to try and buy tickets on multiple different devices
Anyone who has been in touch
with the club should now have had the block removed so they will now
be able to purchase for tomorrow’s members sale.
If you experience any issues or
have further questions, please email

Tonali on target
National service for our lot:
Seniors:

Sandro Tonali (Italy):
Mon 08.09.2025 Israel (n) won 5-4 WCQ
The midfielder kept his place in the side at the neutral venue of Debrecen
in Hungary, hitting the winning goal just on 90 minutes with a low shot from
outside the area.
Fri 05.09.2025 Estonia (h) won 5-0 WCQ
Tonali started in Bergamo and completed 76 minutes.
Anthony Elanga, Emil Krafth (Sweden):
Mon 08.09.2025 Kosovo (a) lost 0-2 WCQ
A damaging night in Pristina, with Elanga continuing up front but coming off
on 72 minutes with his side trailing 0-2. He made way for Alexander Isak but
his lack of match fitness meant that the final score remained unchanged.
Krafth was introduced midway through the second half.
Fri 05.09.2025 Slovenia (a) drew 2-2 WCQ
Elanga started in Ljubljana and gave Sweden an 18th minute lead after a
strong run and finish - his fifth senior international goal. He was replaced
in the 63rd minute.
Krafth was among the unused replacements.
William Osula (Denmark):
Mon 08.09.2025 Greece (a) won 3-0 WCQ
The striker was an unused substitute in Piraeus.
Fri 05.09.2025 Scotland (h) drew 0-0 WCQ

The goalkeeper remained unused in Piraeus.
Fri 05.09.2025 Belarus (h) won 5-1 WCQ

Nick Woltemade (Germany):
Sun 07.09.2025 Northern Ireland (h) won 3-1 WCQ

provided the through ball for Germany's opener. He was withdrawn after an
hour to a mixed reception when the score stood at 1-1.
Thu 04.09.2025 Slovakia (a) lost 0-2 WCQ
A 90 minute shift for the new Magpie in Bratislava, but he had no
chances to prevent SJP old boy Martin Dubravka from posting a clean
sheet - the back four in front of him including ex-NUFC reserve Lubo Satka.
Anthony Gordon, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento (England):
Tue 09.09.2025 Serbia (a) Belgrade WCQ
Sat 06.09.2025 Andorra (h) won 2-0 WCQ

through the second half. Whitley Bay's own Elliot Anderson won his first senior cap.
Bruno Guimaraes (Brazil):
Wed 10.09.2025 Bolivia (a) El Alto WCQ
Fri 05.09.2025 Chile (h) won 3-0 WCQ
Bruno assisted in and scored his side's third goal from point blank range in
Rio de Janeiro's Maracana stadium.
The Magpie captain earning rave reviews from the Brazilian media for his 90
minute display. We make that his 36th full cap and only his second goal -
the other coming against Bolivia in La Paz back in 2022.

A first U19 start for Leo at England's base in Spain.
Wed 03.09.2025 Ukraine (n) won 2-0 FR

Wolves
(h)
Following draws at Aston Villa and Leeds United and a home defeat to
Liverpool, Newcastle go searching for their first win over the season on

It's an old-fashioned, non-televised 3pm KO at SJP.
Team: Jacob Ramsey and Joelinton are early
doubts.
Anthony Gordon serves the second of his three game domestic ban. He'll
be available against Barcelona in the Champions League before completing
his suspension against Bournemouth in the PL and then returning for
selection against Bradford City in the Carabao Cup.

Earlier: NUFC confirmed on Thursday that their search for a CEO had ended
with the installation of Toronto-born 54 year-old, David "Hoppy" Hopkinson:
Newcastle United are delighted to announce the appointment of
David Hopkinson as the club's new Chief Executive Officer.
David officially joins the club on Friday, 5th September and
will undertake a comprehensive handover process supported by
outgoing CEO Darren Eales, who steps down from the position for
health reasons.
David brings more than 25 years of senior executive leadership
and commercial expertise across three countries, delivering results
for some of the world's most iconic and valuable sporting
organisations.
David joins Newcastle United after serving as President and
Chief Operating Officer at Madison Square Garden Sports in the
United States, where he led the business operations of the New York
Knicks and New York Rangers.
Both are among the most valuable franchises in the National
Basketball Association and National Hockey League respectively, and
compete at the world-renowned Madison Square Garden in New York
City.
Previously, as Global Head of Partnerships at Real Madrid,
David served on the executive team as they cemented their place as
one of the world's most valuable football clubs.
Earlier, he spent over two decades at Maple Leaf Sports &
Entertainment as Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing commercial
activities for the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and the NBA's Toronto
Raptors.
David said: "I am incredibly honoured to join Newcastle United
at such an exciting time in the club's history.
"This club represents something truly special. It has
extraordinary history and heritage, incredibly passionate
supporters, and ownership, players and staff who are committed to
excellence.
"Having worked with iconic teams across different countries, I
understand what it takes to build sustainable success at the highest
levels of global sport.
"I greatly admire what has been achieved by the club so far,
and I am excited and motivated by what is ahead as we strive to
position Newcastle United among the world's elite clubs."
Newcastle United chairman, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, said: "We are
delighted to welcome David to Newcastle United.
"David is an outstanding executive whose track record across
global sport and entertainment speaks for itself.
"His experience and strategic capabilities will be invaluable
as we continue to build on the club's presence locally and grow it
globally on and off the pitch.
"David's leadership will be critical as we build upon what we
have already achieved since the acquisition towards an exciting
future and sustainable success.
"I would like to personally thank Darren Eales for his
exceptional work and leadership, as well as his friendship, over the
last three years."
Director Jamie Reuben added: "David's arrival as CEO comes at
a crucial time for the club and I am confident that he will prove to
be an excellent fit for the role.
"He brings a wealth of experience in leadership positions at
some of the biggest names in world sport, with an incredibly strong
foundation to build upon."

the rescheduled date was announced, anyone now unable to attend is
entitled to a refund from NUFC.
The club say that unsuccessful ballot members will be contacted by
them and offered any returned tickets.
PS: For anyone used to using Pokesdown* station for this
game, Sunday engineering work affects trains using that route but
Bournemouth services are unaffected.

Ex-Mag:
Barrie Thomas RIP

The death of former Magpie Barrie Thomas has been announced, at the
age of 88.
Barrie was a centre forward who worked down the mines before
signing for Leicester City, only for national service to halt his
progress.
Joining Mansfield Town before moving on to Scunthorpe United in
1959, Thomas was top scorer in the Football League with 30 goals in
22 games when fellow Second Division side Newcastle bid a record
£45,000 for him in early 1962.
The Iron opted to cash in and a deal was concluded with John
McGuigan also moving from Gallowgate to the Old Showground - while
both Leeds United and Manchester United made their interest known.
Debuting in a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town at St. James' Park,
Thomas first found the net in his third game - away at Swansea - and
Walter Winterbottom quickly called him up to an England training
session, although he failed to make the 1962 World Cup squad.
However, his time at SJP was blighted by injury and criticism
from some fans and colleagues and while netting hat tricks against
Boro, Plymouth and Rotherham, he failed to fire his side to
promotion.
Losing his place to Ron McGarry, Barrie reluctantly returned to
Scunthorpe early in 1964. His scoring touch remained despite fitness
issues and as Newcastle were celebrating promotion the following
May, he netted five as the Iron beat Luton Town 8-1.
Injury ended his playing career at Barnsley, after which he had a
spell managing local non-league side Measham Swifts.
Update:
Mitro makes his move
Former Magpie Aleksander Mitrovic is reported to have turned
down the chance of a return to European club football after securing
his exit from Saudi side Al Hilal.
The 30 year-old Serbian forward has instead joined Qatar Stars
League side Al-Rayyan on a free transfer.

Fixture updates
Here's our take on
future PL changes - all still tbc:
Arsenal (h) remains on Sunday
September 28th as both ourselves and the Gunners play in the CL on
the following Wednesday.
Nottingham Forest (h) was moved to
Sunday October 5th as the Tricky Trees play in the Europa2">Brighton (a) remains on Saturday
October 18th as we play the Benfica (h) CL game the following
Tuesday.
The November PL TV fixtures are due
for release on or by Wednesday September 17th, with the following
options:
West Ham (a) could be Saturday
November 1st or Sunday November 2nd - the Friday is unlikely as the Carabao Cup Fourth Round is that week. The Monday slot wouldn't work
as the Bilbao (h) CL game is the following Wednesday.
Brentford (a) could be Saturday
November 8th or Sunday November 9th - the Friday wouldn't work due
to the Bilbao (h) CL game the previous Wednesday and there are no
Monday games as the international break commences.
Manchester City (h) has to be on
Saturday November 22nd* as both ourselves and the Citizens play in
the CL on the following Tuesday. *There is a chance of the PL
scheduling this for Friday night but not thought likely.
Looking further ahead into 2026:
Aston Villa (h) has to move from
Saturday January 24th to Sunday January 25th as the Villans play in
the Europa League the previous Thursday. It cannot move to the
Monday as we are in CL action the following Wednesday.

Compo winner

Restocked for the new
season is the Shearer bucket hat from Football Bobbles,
with the 1996/97 change kit colours on one side and black & white on
the reverse.
These are available to purchase
here in three sizes.

The Tyneside-based
company also has a brand-new range of bespoke T-shirts depicting the
life and times of Newcastle's 50s hero and FA Cup winner George
Robledo.
These are available to purchase
here in a bewildering variety of sizes and colours.
The prize in our latest competition was a Shearer
bucket hat or a Robledo T-shirt and to stand a chance of winning we
asked which former Magpie played for Liverpool the last time we won
a PL game against them in 2015.
It was of course James Milner and the winning entry came from
Peter Cowell.

The new system is 24/24/48: 24
hours for any ST holders to apply, 24 hours to determine success, 48 hours to
purchase.
Success is based on the loyalty point total calculated from applications
received. Any applications from ST holders with less points are entered into a
ballot, which will have taken place before tickets go on sale.
The purchase window is divided into two sections determined by a loyalty
point division that alters for each game - those successful applicants above
that point division get a couple of hours head start.
Tickets unclaimed by successful applicants within 48 hours are then offered
to those unsuccessful applicants with the next highest loyalty points total.
NUFC contact those applicants directly.
Friends and family groups remain, travel groups and away season tickets are
gone.
2025/26 PL away tickets remain at £30.

On This Day in History |
9th September |
Born Or Died:
1931 Stan Keery born, Derby.
(1952-57)
Beginning his career as an amateur with Blackburn Rovers, wing
half Stan made an £8,250 switch to United from Shrewsbury Town during
November 1952.
Debuting in a 1-2 loss to Preston North End at Deepdale the following January,
Keery was an occasional starter over the next five seasons, invariably
deputising for George Hannah or Jimmy Scoular.
His only senior goal as a Magpie came in a 2-1 win at Burnley in September 1953
and a £2,500 move took him on to Mansfield Town in May 1957.
Just over a year later Stan joined Crewe Alexandra and enjoyed seven years with
the Railwaymen, helping them gain promotion to Division Three before hanging
up his boots.
Settling in Crewe after his retirement, Stan was a bookmaker for a time and
also worked for Rolls Royce in the town. His death was confirmed in March
2013.

1943 Frank Clark born,
Highfield, Gateshead. (1962-75)

By the time full back Frank joined
Newcastle as a 20 year old, he had already
collected an FA Amateur Cup winner's medal with
Crook.
His time at SJP saw him add a Second Division
Championship medal in 1965 and a Fairs Cup
winner's trophy four years later (there were no
medals in that competition).
Released on a free transfer in 1975, the man
nicknamed the Flying Pig joined Brian Clough's
Nottingham Forest winning a European Cup, a
First Division Championship and two League Cups
during four years at the City Ground.
Working as assistant coach to Ken Knighton at the
mackems, he then followed the other KK to Orient
and took sole charge at Brisbane Road for a
decade from 1983.
An inevitable call to Forest came in 1993 and he
guided them into the Premier League and
collected the League Manager's Association award
in 1995.
Moving to Manchester City in late 1996 when things
fell apart on the banks of the Trent, he lasted
at Maine Road until early 1998.
Later worked for the LMA and becoming Vice
Chairman, he came into conflict with United in
2006 when the LMA opposed our bid to appoint
Glenn Roeder as manager, despite him not holding
a coaching licence.
October 2011 saw Frank accept the role of
Nottingham Forest Chairman, succeeding owner
Nigel Doughty.
However, that proved to be a fleeting return to
the City Ground following the sudden death of
Doughty the following February.
With Forest passing into new ownership, Clark was
relieved of his duties in July 2012.
Frank's autobiography, "Black & White and Red
All Over" was published during 2018.

Frank receives some
booty plundered
from the high seas by a pirate

1962 Kevin Brock born,
Middleton Stoney, Oxfordshire. (1988-94)

Midfielder who began his career at Oxford United as a
youngster, making his senior debut during the 1979-80 campaign.
That was the first of eight seasons spent at the Manor Ground during which
Brock played his part in successive promotions from third tier football to a
place in the top flight. He also collected four England U21 caps.
That achievement came under the guidance of manager Jim Smith, who had moved on
to take charge of QPR by the time Brock and Oxford beat them 3-0 at Wembley
in the 1986 League Cup Final.
Smith took Brock to Loftus Road at a cost of £260K in August 1987, Kevin then
following the "Bald Eagle" to Newcastle in a £300K moved, debuting in a 2-1
home win over Wimbledon during December 1988.
Unable to prevent United's slip into Division Two, Brock remained at SJP to
enjoy mixed fortunes under Smith and his successors, Ossie Ardiles and Kevin
Keegan.
Abused by Toon fans at various games including at Portsmouth and a 1-4 home
loss to Wolves - Brock was perhaps unfairly seen as weak, despite his
undoubted ability and goalscoring capability.
His penultimate league outing was a memorable one, replacing the injured Tommy
Wright in goal and keeping a 45 minute clean sheet in a 3-2 win at
Birmingham City in November 1992 despite suffering from a bout of
concussion.
Following Newcastle's promotion to the Premier League that season, Brock moved
on loan to second tier side Cardiff City and also appeared for Rushden &
Diamonds before ending his playing career at Banbury United.
Taking over as manager in 1999, he remained in post until 2007, subsequently
taking charge of Hellenic League Premier Division side Ardley United after a
spell as Woodford United coach.
At the age of 52, Brock put his boots (and gloves) back on to appear in goal
for Ardley, allowing usual 'keeper Jack Harding to play outfield. There was
to be no repeat of his Toon heroics though, as they lost 0-2 at Wootton
Basset.
Kevin's 53rd birthday in 2015 coincided with his departure from Ardley -
resigning the previous evening after a 1-5 home loss.

Newcastle's 100% start to the season to three games -
all of which had been at SJP.
In pre-floodlight days, this was a 5.15pm kick-off on a
Wednesday, but despite that a late edition of the
Evening Chronicle featuring a full match report was
produced.
1908 A Magpies reserve XI visited Ashington to open their new Station Road home.
Kicking off at 5.45pm on a Wednesday, United were 2-0 up
at the break through Bell and Jarvis.
A brace from Hall then made the final score 4-0 to
Newcastle.
Just over a year later, the hosts had relocated the

2014 Jamaal

2020 Club statement:
Newcastle United can confirm that the Premier League has rejected
a takeover bid made by PCP Capital Partners, the Reuben Brothers and
the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) based on its Owners
and Directors test.
This conclusion has been reached despite the club providing
the Premier League with overwhelming evidence and legal opinions
that PIF is independent and autonomous of the Saudi Arabian
government.
The club and its owners do not accept that Premier League
chief executive Richard Masters and the Premier League have acted
appropriately in relation to this matter and will be considering all
relevant options available to them.
Mike Ashley understands fans’ frustrations and would like to
reassure them that he has been fully committed to ensuring this
takeover process reached completion as he felt it was in the best
interests of the club.
2024 Sandro Tonali played the full game for Italy as they
defeated Israel 2-1. The game was played in Budapest due to the
conflict in the Middle East.
Lewis Hall featured for England U21s at Kenilworth Road and set up
the final goal as they beat Austria 4-1.
