"Tottenham are a really good team and I thought, for the first half an hour, we were really good. We pressed them ever so well, we could have been two or three in the lead, missed some really good chances and then the last 15 minutes [of the first half] they got to grips with the game, put us on the back foot, equalised.

"The second half started fairly even but then they got control of the game with the way they play. I was really disappointed with the goals we conceded in the second half.

"We had a spell of ten minutes where we were on top again, a couple of balls flashed across goal, probably didn’t work their goalkeeper enough and it fizzled out because they controlled the last little bit of the game.

"We looked a bit leggy and a bit tired but the programme we’ve had, realistically, it’s only our second competitive game and some of the boys have only played three games in pre-season because of what we do to support the first team. I think we’ll get stronger.”

On the outbound loan situation:

"I’d expect so - and then what we will do is give opportunities comes down to the younger players pushing them as well. I would imagine come next week, the team could look, in several positions, look differently."
