Monday saw Newcastle U21s continue their winless start to the season, beaten for the third time in all competitions and seeing the goals against tally extended to twelve.

The game at Whitley Park opened in similar style to the 1-3 PL2 home defeat at the hands of Spurs a week earlier; United carving out the first scoring chance when Trevan Sanusi shot against the underside of the crossbar in the third minute.

Fulham took a tenth minute lead from their first serious attack; Macaulay Zepa's shot hitting one post and Dan Casey tucking the rebound in off the other upright.

The visitors went 2-0 up on 28 minutes when George Mair denied Zepa, the ball bouncing to Jayden Quashie, who steered a low shot into the far corner of the goal.

As had been the case against Spurs, left winger Trevan Sanusi was forced off due to injury before half time and replaced by the ineffective Park Seung-Soo.

0-2 became 0-3 barely 40 seconds after the restart when Zepa and Jose Sani combined down the right to provide Quashie with an easy finish for his second of the night.

Fulham's fourth in the 83rd minute saw trialist forward Sani fire in at the near post from substitute Aidan Evans' ball into the box.

Newcastle were awarded a penalty in the 85th minute when Seung-Soo was upended by substitute Seth Chingwaro just inside the left side of the box.

However Matheos Ferreira's spot kick was a weak effort blocked by visiting custodian Michael Allen, concluding the evening in suitably downbeat fashion for Robbie Stockdale's side.
